IN the mood of playing along and being a good sport, I picked Hofstra. Simply because I have heard of it before. I do nto know anything about it, but I have never even heard of the others. At least Hofstra, I know exists, the others for all I know may not. Thus I chose the school that is confirmed to exist. Probably as good as any other basis fo choosing a school just by its name.

I would have to say Hofstra too, only because its the only one I've ever heard of. The only reason I've heard of them was a few years ago when my oldest was looking for a school, they kept sending him stuff, which we just threw away.
Unfortunately, the schools on your list aren't exactly well-known to the general population. The only one I've heard of is Hofstra, simply because I get into the NCAA March Madness thing and they've sent a few teams to the tournament before.
My knowledge is limited. I know Hofstra is on Long Island. I said CUNY-Queens, that way you'd have a public CUNY, but be in Queens, which doesn't have the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. Parts of Queens are almost pastoral, by comparison. If you are willing to drop some bucks for Pace or College of Saint Rose (never heard of it), why not Fordham, though it is NOT comprehensive, though one would expect that of a respected university? If you are already considering "the Island," why not SUNY-Stony Brook? And, as others have said, it depends on the curriculum and where you want to ultimately end up.

If I were to choose a school in that area, it would be Stony Brook. Out of the schools on the list, I dunno. I have only heard of Hofstra, Pace, and City College. I have heard of Pace... probably from this forum; Hofstra from watching a little bit of NCAA; and City College because, well, you know: their celebrity physicist.
Robert, the choice has already been made. Not sure why the OP want to play this game, since what WE think doesn't matter....
He's agonizing over the decision.
I was the same way when I was applying to and picking colleges at that age. I thought the school I would pick would ultimately decide my career and the rest of my life, deliver me mind-blowing life experiences, and maybe I'd even meet my wife.
LOL @ all of that!
20 years later, I'd just go to the local college and do the six-year pharm program and be done. I'd probably even insist on living at home with my parents to save them $, so they could go on some extra trips to Europe later in life.
Is it so weird that I've become so disgustingly practical?
You don't pick schools because of their name, you pick schools based upon the program that they have, in the area of study that you wish to pursue.
I agree that you need to choose based on the area of study you are interested in, but disagree about not picking based on name. Graduating from a school with a very good name opens a lot of doors, regardless of how you actually performed at that school.
That being said, I don't think any of the schools on the OP's list have a big enough name to warrant picking simply based on what school it is.
