I would never donate to my alma mater after seeing all the idiotic ways that colleges waste their money. Not to mention many schools are massively overpriced to begin with. I'm giving my school nearly a quarter of my yearly income (after taxes, of course) for the next ten years, that's plenty.
(Technically the school already got paid and I'm giving the gov't all that money, but same deal.)
Not in touch, do not plan to be in touch and will never contribute financially--even if I could..
in my dreams I am cashing the $100 million dollar lotto check and the university isn't even an after thought...
Graduates: Do you donate money to your alma mater?
I have a couple of times, but not recently. I made small donations and was then deluged for years afterward with junk mail begging me to donate more. They spent more on postage for all that stuff than I donated.
Last year I got a phone call from my alma mater. It was a rep wanting me to make a donation for the college. I am a jobless while still paying off that good-for-nothing loan. I told the rep this and she still kept trying for that donation.
I donated enough money to them when I paid tuition.
Yeah- they quit calling and sending me crap when I told them that.
