I admit to some serious envy of your income since we'll be getting by on 24k social security, but I promise it will never be expressed in the form of personal animosity toward you. Now if you were a pro ball player....

Please explain the term "conservative" ?

does that mean if one happens to be a single parent who chooses to live a clean, decent, life with non-religous based morals to high for the average man to even think of approaching is not going to fit in with the Rush Limbaugh philosophy on life ? or that somehow the less than "perfect" focus on the family people will despise me just because imho it is god that has failed to provide me with a husband who will support me and actually want a family? are conservatives the kind that go around blessing people ONLY if they live up to a certain standard while putting down anyONE who isn't; white, married, middle class, pays taxes only to shove their dogmatic golden rules to live by down their throats? What about the less than fortunate through no fault of their own? the disabled? children who's fathers are as good as Tiger Woods? or pastor haggard C'mon people and get REAL! if conservative applies to any of the above mentioned... then please, don't dare judge lest ye be judged

In as regards Colorado Springs, it means attending church regularly and working for the military.

I think you might have a problem here because most people are average. We are not capable of your level of understanding. There are many of us that listen to Rush Limbaugh too. Moving here would be certainly be like hell on earth for you.

This info is good to know! I am planning to move out to Colorado next year. I've been a hairstylist for 10 years so I'm really not worried about not being able to find work. I'm from the Chicago area and it sounds to me like Colorado Springs gets about the same type of season changes as we do. I love to ski, camp, hike, etc. My only question is if you were a single 31 year old female would you move to Colorado Springs? Why?

Default Colorado Springs

Best wishes to you. My wife and I just came home (San Antonio, TX) from a visit to Colorado Springs partly to see my wife's sister and partly to sight see. It is a beautiful place! I envy you. If I and my wife were younger (I'll be 55 next week) I would conisder a move to there. The job market may no be so hot there, but it is not so hot anywhere. Hopefully things will improve. Again best wishes!

The season changes are not the same as Chicago. While there are 4 of them, spring and fall are quite short in comparison to Summer and winter.

If I was a 31 yo single female from Chicago, I would definately move to CoS, but then, I might be bored after a while.

Default A lot has changed in the last year!!

Hello everyone! I was the one who started this thread. My wife and I had our hearts set on Colorado Springs but me getting laid off in April 2009 changed things quite a bit. We had to put moving out of state on the back burner. I'm back on my feet and have a better opportunity than before. I work for a water company, which requires you to obtain a certain State certification. I've been told that this certification can take you places....other states, other cities....anywhere all over the country. I'm hoping this is my ticket outta here. Does anybody who lives in Colorado Springs have any information regarding the water industry there?

The primary water industry here has to be Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU), a city owned outfit that serves the water, sewer, gas and electric needs of the city and close in areas.

Outside the CSU service area are a number of smaller water districts that serve small towns and rural areas.

Water is a big issue in COLO, there's a long thread in the main COLO forum about "Colorado and the West are Running Out of Water" which contains a good deal of useful info. There are water diversions, pipelines and reservoirs all over the state used to supply water to various areas, primarily the Front Range area of COLO (think I-25 corridor). Water law is a serious topic here, centering mostly on who owns the water, how much of it, and who can use which forms of water. Water quality is a bit of an issue as there's evidence that even some airborne pollutants are in our lakes and reservoirs.
