The 14th Amendment does not trump the Bill of Rights. Marriage is not mentioned in the Constitution, therefore the 10th Amendment leaves it to the individual states to decide on marriage matters, the age of consent, etc. A state constitution which declares marriage to be between only a man and a woman is not un-constitutional. It is that state's right to so determine.

Wife and daughter are voting age and have the same position on marriage. The people of Colorado already expressed their voted opinion on the issue, but the expressed will of the people has been unconstitutionaly nullified. I didn't move here just to annoy you. I also intend to help clean out the Bloombergian gun grabbers from the government. I am considering running for city council too. Can I count on your vote?

In the long run, you will lose.
Colorado is becoming bluer as the urban centers continue to increase.
Have a nice day. Not!

That is your issue then. Your religion does not get to dictate how others (who may or may not be practitioners of your faith) get to live their lives.

And one of the reasons why courts are overturning these bans is because a person's civil rights should not be subject to a majority vote.

SCOTUS will have to decide between the 14th or 10th Amendment. An interesting question is what would happen if SCOTUS ruled that state bans on gay marriage are unconstitutional, and the states refused to comply. It would get interesting.

Don't count on my vote. Anyone that wants to bring "their" religion into politics is going to have an uphill battle in a "live and let live" state.

I won't be talking religion in my campaign. You won't know it's me. I'm pretty much "live and let live", but I firmly believe in traditional American values.

Which risks being damaging and divisive. "Values" Are subjective and evolve over time. They change with the times. As well they should. Bronze aged values are, for example, often not as useful or even relevant today as they might have been then.

As a society grows and changes, in the face of modernity, knowledge, science advancement, environment and much more, the ethics and values and morality of that society has to change to keep up.

"Traditional values" is a phrase that says nothing more to me than you want to press "pause" on the evolution of ethics and values and use an out dated or even archaic system in a modern world.

So you believe in "Traditional Values", but many others like myself believe in an evolving ethical system that has to update itself on an iterative basis to reflect the actual reality and requirements of the environment it finds itself in.
