I decided to post this in the Pueblo general thread instead of making a new one.

Pueblo is going to get 100 more jobs in the next few months at iQor.

This is from KOAA:

A technology and services company says they will bring up to 100 jobs to Pueblo within the next 2 months. iQor says they want people to provide clients with customer service.

Jobs are always good, but Pueblo needs to attract something more than a call center. Most of those jobs pay little more than minimum wage, which isn't enough to live off of, even in Pueblo.

It sure would be nice if the city would allow a nuclear power plant or Wal-Mart distribution center to be built that would bring hundreds, if not thousands of good-paying jobs to the area...

I agree and that is why I have my fingers crossed the developers of Pueblo Springs and the tech park are successful in attracting some major tech firms that pay a lot.

The "plans" for this tech park have been in place for several years now, but they've never gained much steam. When and if the plans are finalized and approved by the right people, it'll be at least 5 years before any companies actually dig in and start hiring people.

Things like this don't happen overnight.

They have been in place for a few years but keep in mind when the first annexation happened was right before the economic melt down. So they had no choice but wait unless they wanted to end up in bankruptcy court.

I am interested in how you came up with 5 years? Are you saying it will take 5 years to get the infrastructure in place? If so, and to be honest I have no clue on how long it takes to get a area that large ready for development, wouldn't the construction jobs cause a mini economic boom to the area?

With the way Pueblo drags its feet on almost every project, I say that it will take at least 5 years to get the area developed once the plans are approved. If I had to guess, I would say that we're at least 10 years away from seeing any kind of progress on this project.

If Pueblo was the driving force behind this development I would agree with you. However the development company out of Las Vegas is the driving force and they have said the first phase has to be large enough to pay for most if not all of the project. Because of that I think the timetable will be much shorter. What it is I don't know and would only be guessing and not even a educated guess.

Talking Fiberglass conduit plant celebrates grand opening

A new company that expanded here from Canada will have its grand opening Tuesday then start regular production by the end of the week. They have located south of town in one of our business parks.

This is from the Chieftain:

Less than two weeks from the start of regular production, FRE Composites President Benoit Arsenault looked relaxed Wednesday as he demonstrated a machine that spins fiberglass strands into electrical conduit.

1. So what? Who cares? Bi whoop.

2. Have you ever been in Lackawanna County? Rust belt.
Have you ever been in Cumberland County? Pleasant, but hicksville.

3. Arlington County, VA is up and coming, no doubt...but it's driven by that little city just across the river...Washington DC.

Irrelevant information of no real importance.
