And who's it convenient to? Those that live in the development or who are close enough to benefit from it? Like the whitewater project, it doesn't benefit the whole community.

Then what do you propose then?

More parks, and not a park that tries to act like a miniature state park that you drive into where it attracts lucrative illegal activities like a drug deal, etc. Simple things like a acre sized Park with a few scattered trees and manicured grass for a dog to run around, furnished with benches, and maybe a playground.

It wouldn't matter! Everybody will just keep flocking to Lakebottom,Cooper Creak and Flat Rock Park.

Parks take vast amounts of land. Look at the size of Weracoba Park or Heath Park or Cooper Creek Park, etc. Where in Columbus would it be possible to create something like that again? There is no room. Columbus is small geographically and has over 200,000 living in it. Oxbow Meadows and their dog park is a good example. The rails to trails bike path has been great. As far as your comment for smaller parks, that is exactly what Old Town is creating. It's a 300 acre development, one of the last large tracts of purely undeveloped land, that is left in Columbus. It will have just what you are talking about. Sounds like you need to get out and explore a little more.

Forgot to include Flat Rock! See there are tons of parks and options to get out and enjoy the outdoors without even having to leave the city!

You're completely over thinking what makes a park a park. A park doesn't need athletic fields, or a running track, or a lake. So the only viable dog park in town for residents is located 20+ miles away from residents that live in the northern suburbs. A bike trail that if you don't live directly near, still requires you to drive to. A development called Old Town that is catering to a niche of the community, mainly to residents that can afford to buy a new home in such a development.

I know exactly what it takes, you don't need much. What you need is available space, something that Columbus is running out of quickly. How about Heritage Park in the Historic District. Ever visited that? Perfect example of what you are taking about.

It might be a perfect example, but is it convenient for me or residents alike to drive 20+ miles just to visit a park? Same reason why the location of downtown sets it back, it's just a pita to drive all the way down there for a bite to eat or to do shopping.

Well I am sorry you don't live within walking distance of a park. How about moving closer to one since it sounds like you enjoy them? There are over 40 parks in Columbus that vary in size and what amenities they offer. Most people have to drive to a park, it's just the way it is. Most people who live ITP in Atlanta have to drive to a park. Look at Piedmont Park for example, if you don't live in Midtown or the Virginia Highlands area, you will more than likely have to drive to the park. Buckhead is the same way. Yes, you have Chastain and Lenox Park (if you even want to consider it a true park). The vast majority still have to drive.
