As Archineer said, open the Applications folder and look for the applications you want on the dock, then click and drag each to the dock. You won't actually drag the applications out of the Applications folder when you drag them to the dock. All you are doing is creating a sort of "alias" when you click and drag the application icon. This alias is much like a launcher for the application that is left behind in the Applications folder.
My Applications and Documents icons are now missing. How do I get them back? My program is: Mac 10.6.8
As stated, just drag the icons back to right side of the dock.
