You can do that with photos becsue it doesn't take that long to flip through hundreds of thumbnails but editing video is a fairly time consuming process even if you're just getting rid of the crap. If you are going to go that route you are better off carefully selecting what you are recording so there is no need to edit the raw footage on the road.

Yes, that works fine, and so one of the numerous portable photo-storage devices. But these can be more expensive depending on what you want. Most include a small screen to view the photos you have downloaded to the device from the camera.

I was thinking about something like Western Digital's MyCloud. At least you have control over your own storage
