A new mall has been announced for Norwalk and now this. I wonder if CT is in the beginning of a new mall boom.

No mall was announced for Norwalk, just a developer's proposal.

This mayor is out of touch with west Haven. He said I hope they widen exit 44...he does realize that exit 44 is going to be closed forever in like 2 years. That whole area is getting reconfigured right now. Lol

Holy traffic!

Some would argue that none of the development above really do great things. They all offer more minimum wage jobs and traffic. If each of these locations was being developed by many corporations, manufacturing or factories than I would rejoice. More places that people can waste money of cheap Chinese crap.

I was just thinking the same thing. How on earth do they plan to accommodate for all that extra traffic?

I'm just not seeing how this can possibly help West Haven. Here's why:

It's planned to be an upscale outlet mall. It's not an upscale town, and the area for the development is next to one of the worst areas of New Haven (not the worst - but we're talking Kimberly Avenue and the Boulevard, here). Any "upscale shoppers" who know the area, are not going to feel comfortable parking their BMWs and Lexuses and Audis in a lot there.

It's off a very old, fairly narrow main road that runs through West Haven and gets a lot of traffic already during rush hour. It's right next to an equally old, run-down residential area.

The fact that it's West Haven could be a deal breaker for most shoppers, just on general principal. First, it definitely won't be catering to residents, because as I said, it's not an upscale town, and they're making an upscale outlet mall. But West Haven is sandwiched between downtown New Haven and the nightmare that is Long Wharf I-95 driving - and on the other side, only a few exits away, is the Milford Post (or whatever its name is these days) and the nightmare that is Route 1 driving.

Who in their right (or wrong) mind would want to trek through either of those nightmares, to spend money at a mall?

More reason to stay up here in Wallingford. Milford Post Road is a disaster nowadays, Norwalk is a show to get around to begin with, and they want to do this in West Haven?!?! Good luck, the projects they are doing now on 95 will already be out-dated.
