My husband and I have three small children. We are looking to move. What is Southbury like? Is it a close-knit community? Is there diversity? Is there a lot to do for families? Any info would be very helpful. Thanks!

It's rural. Nice and quiet. Not a whole lot to do in Southbury itself. Good schools. Barely any racial diversity.

Southbury is a more rural type suburb but still has most basic shopping and restaurant needs. The schools are very good. Check the link below for more information on them. I see that you are also looking at Cheshire which is also very nice. The character of each town is a bit different and would be a matter of personal taste. Visit each town and see which one is more to your liking. Jay

Thanks! I like some "liveliness" in a town (not too quiet). Is Cheshire quiet too? Rural?

If you like liveliness, Southbury is not the place. It's pretty dead. I'm not familiar with Cheshire so I cannot comment.

Cheshire is definitely more lively than Southbury.
