I wonder if northern sections will get a tiny shot of snow early Sunday morning. NWS Albany is showing this in their zones (which includes Litchfield Co.) as is BOX (northern CT) but OKX (southern/coastal CT) shows flurries everywhere.....

Did someone say snow? Latest GFS showing some active period coming up again. After Mid January we enter the stormy maybe snowy period again.

This is for the 15th.

This is for the 17th. Obviously not to be taken seriously but this particular situation means blizzard conditions all over CT

Another cold day today but dry.

If you looked at your 5 day forecasts you probably saw some snowflakes Saturday night.

Weak, fast moving, moisture starved wave will pass through. temps will be cold enough for snow. It's just going to be snow showers, flurries, and an inch at most.

A WEAKENING MID LEVEL SHORTWAVE AND ASSOCIATED SFC LOW PRESSURE WILL
PASS TO THE NORTH LATE SAT NIGHT INTO SUNDAY MORNING. WSW MID LEVEL
FLOW OF 30-5O KT LOOKS TO PRODUCE ENOUGH ISENTROPIC LIFT TO WARRANT
CHANCE POP DURING THIS TIME...HIGHER ACROSS INLAND SECTIONS CLOSER
TO THE SHORTWAVE FORCING. QPF SHOULD BE ON THE LIGHT SIDE...WITH
LITTLE IF ANY SNOW ACCUMULATION. ANOTHER UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE
PASSING THROUGH MAY ALSO BRING SOME FLURRIES OR SNOW SHOWERS LATE
SUNDAY NIGHT.

Animation shows all Severe Thunderstorm Warnings (blue) and Tornado Warnings (red) issued for each day in 2012 by NWS.
Watch CT be outside the warnings until July and August then boom, a bunch pop up including some Tornado warnings.

I noticed that in the forecasts this morning, and wondered. Thanks for clarifying!

Who would have thought coastal CT would have more snow than Denver and Chicago put together and the same as Minneapolis by January 3rd?

BDR normal snowfall to date is 4.3". They have 16.2!
BDL normal snowfall to date is 14.7". They have 15.8.

As far as yearly averages...here are the 63 year averages for these locations. Take note of BDR’s average and comparison to others.

Chicago: 41.5”
Bridgeport (BDR): 27.5”
Hartford (BDL): 47.8”
Minneapolis: 51.6”
Denver: 58.6”
