Unfortunately looks like ESPN will be facing at least some cuts. Not great new for the media giant.

Between this & Sikorsky it will have a huge impact in southern Ct.

I just hope the ESPN affected percentage is not larger than Disney's percentage overall.

I disagree. There’s nothing indicating these layoffs will be large scale. Neither central Connecticut where ESPN is located or southwestern Connecticut where Sikorsky is located are entirely reliant on these companies. Their economies are very diverse and could easily weather a layoff. And remember both of these companies have had layoffs in the past and those didn’t have a huge impact. Why would these be any different? Jay

Sikorsky's loss of a huge contract will impact it to, as one poster said, a repair shop parts maker in a few years. Parts production requires exponentially fewer heads than original equipment. I am glad they are preparing as it will make the headcount more of a slide vs freefall.

Disney is after gigantic savings, and ESPN is huge in personnel costs. This is a bigger depth of cut than Disney has ever done before.

ESPN layoffs are nothing new. It’s been a shell of its former self for years now since they lost a ton of box revenue when everyone cut the cord.
It’s all but said and done at Sikorsky. Small orders, rotors and blades will be the norm but the region survived the GE fiasco. It barely felt a ripple. What an awful leadership decision that was.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Disney is "right-sizing" ESPN in order to spin it off.

Sikorsky has been a boom and bust business for years.

Seeing the evolution in military drones being used in Ukraine, have to wonder is Sikorsky looking to add that to the portfolio?

They already have. Sikorsky developed a vertical takeoff drone prototype that flew in 1993 for the USMC. It was never put into production. Sikorsky is also developing a pilot free system for the Blackhawk.

But as a Lockheed Martin company, they are probably collaborating with other LM companies such as Procerus that have developed vertical takeoff drones.
