Cam--scheduled to fly out of BDL at around 3:00pm Sunday afternoon. Will the event be over by then? Of course whether or not flights are cancelled is another story!

Yup...good to go. Doubt they will be too backlogged from the snow but something tells me the winds will cause some delays around the area.

Snow over by lunch Sunday but winds and blowing snow around all day and brutal temps/wind chills.

Winds will start to howl early Sunday morning until Monday Lunchtime. Gusting past 40-50mph at times

Haha. Always fun to see NWS mention things I said many hours before.

Mid next week

DEVELOPING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM ALONG THE GULF STATES
MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY. GUIDANCE HAS TRENDED SOUTH OVER THE LAST 24
HOURS...RESULTING IN A COLDER SOLUTION. IF THIS TREND CONTINUES...WE
COULD POTENTIALLY BE LOOKING AT ANOTHER ALL SNOW EVENT DURING
THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK.

This weekend.

LOCALIZED HEAVIER SNOW STILL A
POSSIBILITY DEPENDING ON THE STRENGTH AND PLACEMENT OF AN INVERTED
TROUGH LATE SAT NIGHT/EARLY SUN WHILE A VIGOROUS SHORTWAVE ALOFT
INTERACTS WITH IT...ENHANCING LIFT. THIS EVENT STILL LOOKS LIKE
LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW EVENT WITH HIGHEST AMOUNTS ACROSS SE CT AND
THE TWIN FORKS.

When will the more precise alerts with timing/snow/wind forecasts be issued for this weekend, Cam? We have an international flight out of EWR Sunday around 10:30am. I just booked a hotel room to spend Sat night near the airport so we aren't driving that morning in snow. Do you think this event has the potential to shut down travel at EWR Sunday morning?

Current Snow Depth.. Something unthinkable... Snowdepth of 100" in parts of Maine?? WTF?

Parts of Downeast Maine could have snow depth nearing 100" by end of the weekend. Almost unspeakable.

Forecast Lows & Max temps tomorrow.

The last time BDR(Bridgeport,CT) had a max of 15° in the month of February was in 1979! 2/17/79

The 17° in Islip & 14° in Boston would be the coldest February Max since 1996.

In other words, the last time Boston failed to warm past 14° in the month of February was in 1996.
Problem is if doesnt get cold fast this wont count because the high will occur at midnight somewhere in the 20s

True. I'm north of Boston and can't think of a way out. If I go north I'll be in NH and Maine which would be even worse. If I go east I'm in the ocean--don't want that. West I'll be in WMass where there is still a lot of snow. I'm tempted to try to drive down through CT and try to wait it out somewhere in NJ. Better still, get to Bradley and fly off somewhere.

But we're stuck here. Boston keeps getting hit over and over and over. Their trains won't work, there is no place to put all the snow, people can't get to work. More snow Sunday night and more snow Wednesday. They rely on those trains that just are not working and will be shut down all weekend. Record setting snowfalls aren't that much fun anymore. It's gone too far.

I guess this is what it's like in Buffalo most winters, LOL!

In a totally different subject, NWS is now even predicting -1 on Monday morning for Central Park. If that really happens besides finally breaking the longest streak without a subzero low there (21 years!), it would not only be the first one in February since 1963 (though in 1979 it was exactly 0), it would be the latest in the season post-1900 that this occurred (breaking Feb. 15, 1943 when it was an incredible -8!).
