LOL.
He played the corporate blackmail game and lost - miserably - again.

It's a race to the bottom.

In 5 years, GE will relocate its headquarters from Boston to Rwanda.

So, I guess what we'll learn from this is the relentless chant of lower taxes is NOT what this is all about. I've been saying for YEARS that the important things are growing an atmosphere conducive to entrepreneurship. The difference in levels of taxation between Connecticut and Mass are negligible.

What Boston offers it atmosphere that is highly innovative, cultivates a young, engaged, educated workforce, etc.

As far of COL goes, the average 1 bedroom in Boston is $2200-- So this is not about dinero... It's not about taxation. There is simply no package the governor could have offered that would have kept GE here.

Let the screaming about taxes begin.

LOL, or something like that. I'm no fan of Malloy, and I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but let Mass have GE, and I wish them the joy of it. Scummy corporation, IMO. Maybe at one time it was an iconic American company, now it's just a multinational making some bucks off the global war machine. Don't let the door hit it where the good Lord split it.

This action by GE further proves that Malloy, as the Chairman of the Democratic Governors Association, will be a major liability to Democrat gubernatorial candidates everywhere in 2016," RGA Communications Director Jon Thompson said in Wednesday.

There you go! It was about taxes and money! None of that "location" BS

GE started their exploratory committee when the tax plan went through and Malloy just assumed they were bluffing!

And what did CT get from that massive tax increase??

If CT can't maintain a reputation as a more affordable, business-friendly location to places like Boston and NY then we have little chance of competing with the large cities for top employers.

There's also the chance that other companies will be following GE's lead and be looking to relocate. GE's departure will be noted by A LOT of people and other companies.

In the grand scheme of things, Pfizer moving several thousand jobs from Groton/New London to Boston had a bigger impact on that part of the state than GE moving 800 jobs to Boston will have on FFC, I would think. New London County has still not recovered from that.

Also, as far as I know, this does not affect GE operations in Stamford, Danbury or Plainville, does it?

$1.9 million annually in lost property taxes, but a coup for SHU.
