Just shown are last 2 years but you can get an idea how strange it feels not to be able to do outside work in March. 2012 was even earlier end of February I was tilling. Typically by mid March. I haven't even been able to straighten and clean anything outside yet.

March 23 and still seeing trucks hauling away snow.

Greenwich, CT. Route 1. Look in background on right. Huge piles still around everywhere. Snow cover in Greenwich more scattered than points NE.

Ponds still frozen around here. Usually see this more north of 84, not near I-95 end of March.

Ground hog dives under the ice and goes swimming.

Milford, CT
March 24, 2015

The water is on the other side of those homes on the right.

Only piles around and shaded snow.

Couple of boats on the Long Island Sound. Long Island is so flat sometimes you cant even see it.

Meanwhile... a couple of minutes away from the beach.. Litterally a walk away... 2-4" of snow in the shade still around in many spots.

It's April and I'm still finding Winter around. It just wont let go.

Very impressive to see in March, let alone in April in SouthWest, CT.

Dirty snow piles but amazing to see the pile still around.

Small Pond in New Canaan, CT

John D. Milne Lake. Water used for drinking. Incredible to see it still frozen, thin or not.

So... Will my tree look like that in 11 days?

4/18/12 vs Today.

Normally "Fully" leafed out April 25-May 7 but some trees like Oak take longer...

Latest I seen bare trees was beginning of May (last year), but that's with buds on them.

Here's how end of April looked last year. Because this year we aren't having a very cold April AND because its been wet, I don't think it will be as late as last year.

Buds always seem to sprout (especially Maples) in March and then leaves come really fast most of the time in April after the sprouts have blossomed... Some years they take their time, other years boom.

Earliest Fully leafed out I seen was end of March (I forget which year)

Here's a comparison of April 18, 2012 vs today. Will it look like that in 11 days? Heck no. lol

In the woods of Wilton, CT, snow piles still around. April 10th. Consider all the rain events, fog, 40s & 50s.

Went to the Horse Farm in Stamford for one thing...

Yup... Manure. lol
Some lady was there(NY Plates ) so I was waiting for her to get her share.

So walked around a bit while I waited. Saw some Horse's. :-)

Something about Red Barns I love. (Looks Better in Winter though)

Horse in background was eating. The other was going for a walk. Just came out of the Stables.

Red Maples are starting to show their buds.

Finally, my turn. That's one big pile of manure!

Pile in front is aged and ready to use or put in compost (which I do then use for Veggie garden & shrubs)

Pile in back is too fresh to use. Will burn and kill plants.

Still waiting.

Cold Hardy Holly Tree damaged by the north winds this winter but preserved under the snowpack.

Backyard ones seem to be coming back.. They did last year but this is a second hard hit.. Poor things. Rabbits tore these up all winter.
