back in the stone ages, i lived in a 5th floor walkup apartment post-college in nyc. square footage: about half of the low end of your scale.

in arizona, you could probably rent a nice house in a nice neighborhood for the price of a 700 sq ft. 1 bdrm apt. in nyc.

then again, it's arizona.

While I agree many want too much, I do not include a desire for a 1 bedroom as too much to ask for.

I guess it really depends on how well you're doing. If you have a prestigious job that can only be found in high octane metros like NYC/CT and live in a nice community, etc., I'm sure you love it. If you're working a low wage job, I'm sure the taxes and COL eat you up.

Fair point. However, I have friends who are of all the generations...and I still personally feel that Millennials really are a generation of more entitlement and things just being handed to them. That's only from personal experience though, so it could just be the people around me!

No matter how hard I work here, I simply can't impress, because I'm not being given assignments, projects or work that allows me to grow and show what I know. I strategically raised this issue to my supervisor and the CFO and no one seems to care in the least. So yeah, that's depressing.

At least you found a job. Be grateful for that. But look for areas where you can save the company money? Are they using a service for instance to file payroll taxes? If so, offer to do it.

Most millennials were coddled from birth, and cannot break the expectation they should be coddled. Every job is an opportunity to shine; you exemplify going in with a passion, working long hours if needed, the "can do" spirit that built this land of opportunity. You are also helped by contrast vs your generation. But you aren't alone my godson in his mid 20s is a work-a-holic, as are his friends at work, and all are thriving.
