Northeast

Heavy rain late in the drought-monitoring period eliminated the abnormal dryness (D0) that had recently developed over southwestern New England and a neighboring sliver of eastern New York. July 17-23 rainfall in Hartford, Connecticut, totaled exactly 2 inches, helping to boost its total since June 1 from 2.71 to 4.71 inches—an improvement from 43 to 64% of normal. During the 7-day period ending July 23, Poughkeepsie, New York, received rainfall totaling 2.26 inches.

Status quo for greater Hartford either way. The drenching the other day actually did have some good behind it at least.

Flash back to my own post of two years ago:

Today's Maximum Temperatures for July 25, 2017...

Worcester: 61°
Pittsfield: 62°
Binghamton: 64°
Boston: 65°
Providence: 66°
Albany: 67°
HARTFORD: 68° (normal for the date is 85 degrees!)
Bridgeport: 70°
NYC: 71°
Newark: 73°
Philadelphia: 79°

Now? 83, dew point of 55 and fair in New Britain as of 12:40 PM.

Last Saturday was obscenely warm. I wouldn't say that about the rest of the month.

Interestingly, I think the CT coast was cooler than everyone around it for some reason today (BDR had a high of just 81, Central Park and LaGuardia and Newark were in the upper 80s and even JFK and Islip on the ocean were in the mid 80s; and BDL had a nicely spreaded hi/lo of 89/59....I know it is not impossible but I wonder how often they had a high of 90+ with a low below 60, more common in "high desert" towns like Reno, NV or parts of southern Colorado).

I was at Cove Island Park/Beach in Stamford today from about 2-5pm and there definitely was a cooling breeze throughout, especially on the beach itself and in the water.

Pop Up here and there. LOVING the stretch of dry weather and its not that humid. Good summer so far. Only 1 heat wave here and hasn't been as humid as summer usually is..

Here is Bridgeport's OBS for July 2019.. Only 5 days the max temp has been below normal. ONLY TWICE the lows have been below normal. Note the 99 was a record high that specific day

A look at Bridgeport's Minimum Dewpoints each day.

I know it's a lot of numbers but hopefully my color coded boxes make it easier to see the humid and dry mornings.

Just wanna note, 2013 had the longest stretch of 70+ "MAX" dews on record from June 24 to July 24. That was BRUTAL! Look at the lows too. There were some crazy humid mornings that summer.

As far as 2019.... Hmmm, maybe not as dry as I thought vs previous yrs. Low - mid 60s past 5 days but look at 2017 for same time period... 50s! Past few summers really hasn't been crazy humid. Right?

That's what you call "Pop Ups". Pouring in Naugatuck and Easton. One just popped up in New Canaan.

Maybe I'll hit 10 inches for the month? lol

I think you've gotten, ahem, "acclimated" Cam. I don't consider dewpoints in the upper 60s like today comfortable or "not that humid". Needs to be below 60 for me to feel truly comfortable. We had a few days like that in June, but usually in this part of the country temps & humidity go hand in hand, unfortunately, in the summer.
