National Geographic has ranked the Bridgeport/Norwalk/Stamford Labor Market Area as being the 8th happiest in the nation, stating:

"Just 40 miles from New York City, Connecticut’s Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk metro area has endless cultural experiences nearby. But many locals stay put for work: The region has one of the largest concentrations of corporations in the country."

Agree/disagree?

My opinion: I've always been happy to call CT home, so I voted yes. The politics in the state are looney and leave a lot to be desired, though.

I agree with your take... I like the state but the leftist pandering politicians are sickening. The economy right now isn't great, the cost of living is only getting worse, and that takes a hit on my feelings, but overall yes, I've been happy here... I guess if you have a good job and could afford to live in the Bridgeport-Stamford area, you'd be happy...

Agree that the politicians in this state leave much to be desired. But I do like living in SW CT, even though Hartford views us as the piggybank. Pretty much everything you need is close by. Also, the fall is when CT really shines. Its hard to be upset when the leaves are changing and the sun is shining.

You all know where I stand on this. Love our state. I realize that no where is perfect. We have our problems and issues but to me they are less than most places. Jay

I'm happy being here but I know I would be much happier elsewhere. When I retire, I'm out of here.

That's how I felt, too.

I have lived in 3 states, visited several more for lengthy stretches. Was happy in all 3, could easily be happy in a dozen others. I will likely retire in the Southeast.

Same. I like every state I've been to for various reasons, but some of them are unlivable for me. I'm assuming Connecticut, Tennessee, and New Jersey are your 3? I know you mentioned Tennessee on here quite often and Tennessee is on my list for when I retire. Virginia is up there too. I'd get more for my taxpayers money down there since most of our dollars up here are allocated to the poor. From a family standpoint, I can see why Connecticut is worth it, but our kids have moved out, and we just want to settle down and save money like everyone else.

And this is why I feel the saying "everywhere you go, there you are" is so true.
