Uh oh. GFS now has the big coastal storm Saturday and cold air around.
Welcome to the new December

Canadian has the storm but not a coastal. It basically is having a hard time merging the Jets off the coast

German has it but weak

NWS seems to be showing all rain for Saturday and Sunday south of I-84 and rain/snow mix north of it?

For those that are new here the rain snow line is typically where I-84 OR the Merrit is.

Euro weakened the storm so less snow now
GFS overnight went towards Euro being colder and snowy...what else is new???? GFS plays catch up
Canadian has snow to rain as the storm tracks overhead

NWS disco says this..

Quote:
A large amount of model spread continues to exist with regard to
timing, intensity, and track of the intensifying closed upper low as
it slides towards the east coast this weekend. There are resultant
timing, track, and intensity differences in a frontal system working
towards the coast on Saturday/Saturday Night, with possible coastal
low development tracking to the southeast of the area Sat
Night/Sunday. There are a wide range of potential solutions with
this potential system and predictability is quite low at this time
range. There is some clustering of solutions this far out between
the GEFS, CMC and ECE ensemble members of primary low weakening
across the Great Lakes/Ohio Valley and coastal low development off
the Carolinas Sat. The new low would then intensify and track SE of
the region late Sat through/Sun. It may take a few more days for
predictability and confidence to increase on sensible weather
details such as PTYPE, precip amounts, and timing. Stuck very close
to the NBM for now. It should be noted that NBM probabilities for
seeing greater than 1 inch of liquid equivalent currently range from
30 to 50 percent this time period. The NBM probabilities for seeing
greater than 2 inches of liquid equivalent are currently less than 5
percent this time period

March 11-12 Winter Storm Update:

New Euro model now suppresses the Jet stream too far south. That means its colder for us, but the snow is in Philadelphia instead of CT.

GFS has a snow to Rainstorm

Canadian has a light snow / rain event

German has a big snowstorm

That's all we can do right now.. See what the models are showing. ALL forecasts simply do is that. Some sources weigh more on 1 than the other. Other sources just don't change much until there is more consensus

But don't worry, there's another storm for the 13th and 14th

More chances in March than any winter month. Unreal
