You guys ready for another wet Saturday???

The last full weekend without rain was Sept 2-3.

6 of the last 8 Saturdays it has rained.

Aug 26 (morning)
Sept 16 (evening)
Sept 23 (all day)
Sept 30 (morning)
Oct 7 (all day)
Oct 14

Notice the precip stay south of Massachusetts and NorthEast CT. Thats because of the location the storm is transferring energy. Would of been an interesting snow event!

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service New York NY
Issued by National Weather Service Mount Holly NJ

Low pressure shifting through Indiana and Ohio transfers energy to a
new low center off the Mid-Atlantic coast on Saturday, which then
passes to our south Saturday night into Sunday morning. The storm
then shifts NE thereafter as it strengthens. We should be spared of
the heaviest rainfall as the storm center should track fairly well
SE of the 40N/70W benchmark. Enhancement of rainfall may still
however occur due to frontogenetic forcing nearby and perhaps some
upper jet streak lift. Still, rain amounts are expected to fall
short of flash flood guidance. See the hydrology section below for
more details. Rain chances will be generally higher during the
afternoon and nighttime, and higher over the southern half of the
forecast area.

I guess even longer than early Sept for Greater Boston, just a bit north!

Before the rain starts today we're looking ahead and asking ourselves 2 things.

1. Why Rain Again Next Weekend??

2. Will this pattern be happening in Winter too??

Frustrating to see a winter pattern in the Fall to be honest.

What is interesting when I checked the data...is that despite the cloudy/showers on weekend, we are still well below normal for rainfall for the month of October. In fact, we are running more than an inch below normal for rainfall (at least at NWS Bridgeport). Also, with the month half over, we are still running 2 F above normal temp wise:

I wouldn’t bank on it - this weekend was forecast to be a monster nor’easter but we ended up with rain

So far this fall (since Sept 1st) we are above normal with precip.

Mostly in part because September was super wet. BDL is 6.64" above normal. Bridgeport is 3.03" above normal

And now add more from today.

Look at these totals! Over a foot of rain in spots this Fall. Nuts

At least wells arent drying up. Dont worry, we'll have drought soon. Just how it always is "and has been"

I would just add...I checked NWS Hartford now too...they appear to be just about as dry so far this October as Bridgeport (and more above normal).
