Does this make 8 in a row? Misses us but still there.

WFSB mets say the weekend storm will be deflected out to sea, just like the last one.

Do they have capabilities to see the future?

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service New York NY
111 PM EST Sun Jan 23 2022

A frontal system should approach on Friday helping to boast
temperatures into the 30s. At the same time, the aforementioned
shortwave energy should reach the southeast States. This will
help develop low pressure off the southeast coast Friday into
Friday night. Confidence is starting to increase that there will
be a storm system along or off the east coast to start next
weekend. What is not certain is the track and intensity as it
lifts north and east on Saturday. There are also significant
run-to-run changes
within the ensembles all due to timing,
intensity, and track changes. The main question is how much
phasing will the southern stream energy have with any additional
northern stream energy coming down the backside of the trough.

The trough looks highly amplified, but the overall pattern still
looks progressive with little to no blocking across southeast
Canada and up into Greenland. The ensemble means do indicate
higher height anomalies further east over the North Atlantic,
but this could still allow the low to pass well offshore given
the progressive nature of the trough. Recent storm track has
also favored a more offshore scenario. However, it is much too
early to get into any specific details regarding track/intensity
as the smaller scale evolution within the amplifying trough may
ultimately determine what, if any, impacts occur to our region
next weekend. The NBM is a good compromise at this time range,
which for now indicates a slight to chance probabilities late
Friday into Saturday.
With no Blocking high near Greenland we aren't going to get a blockbuster storm.

What's interesting is current NWS forecast for our region assumes we don't get it at all, not that it's a possibility, even a somewhat remote one.

Clipper today total dried out coming across PA and NY. I always see this with clippers. Too much dry air with it by time it gets to us...

This guy thinks Clippers have gone extinct. Could just be a case of memory lapse? I thought the atmosphere is holding more moisture.

There it is... Dropped a couple inches in Ohio and PA. 10-15" Lake Effect near Buffalo
