Jay, no one talks about Lyme really, unless it's where not to go. People are afraid of insurance issues etc. Lyme is a weird disease and many mainstream doctors don't believe in it unless the patient has 100% textbook symptoms, which many don't.

Since the outbreak originated here, you'd think CT would be the epicenter of excellent lyme care, but that's sadly not true.

Did you know you can get multiple blood tests for lyme and have completely different results on each test? It's that bad of a disease.

I would expect Yale to follow the true CDC dx of lyme, which is 7 or so positive bands on a test. Experts in lyme will clinically diagnose a patient rather than rely on the blood test.

There is no real cure yet. Many therapies but no real cure. Maybe read the book "Bitten" (i haven't yet but it's on my list). There is an earlier book that interviewed the same scientist.

That may be true but the OP has asked for help in finding a doctor here in Connecticut for Lyme. We are not here to debate the treatment of Lyme. That can be done over on the Health and Wellness forum. We can only answer the OP’s request. It’s that simple. Jay

I was explaining why massnative71 said what they did. Us googling for a lyme doc is not what the OP is looking for, they can do that themselves. They need real life recommendations and will probably find they get more PM's than posts on the thread.

With that, I'm off this thread. I've already said too much publicly.

^Not just insurance companies but some doctors have faced prosecution as well. Case in point Dr. Charles Ray Jones, the New Haven pediatric lyme doctor who was temporarily shut down by the state and incurred major legal expenses after a witch hunt that was coincidentally led on by some of these same Yale doctors we are discussing here. Jones is considered one of the tops in the field, and has been a go to for kids throughout the world. MA has passed a law that protects lyme doctors from prosecution, CT may have since but they certainly didn't earlier in the decade back when this debacle was going on. But even with these recent laws, they can still face pushback from insurance companies who don't want to pay for treating this expensive disease. Either way, the doctors' identities need to be protected for now. By PM is the best way to share this info. I've said all I need to as well.

I know CT passed a law (pre-2009 I think) saying that anyone can get a double dose of doxy if they've been bit, no questions asked, no testing of the tick is necessary. But that needs to be done immediately after being bit.

Of course, if you don't know that, you have to rely on a doctor to offer it to you and they don't always do so.

Are you recommending Dr. Jones? Are you sending the OP a private message with doctor recommendations? That is all we should be discussed here. Not sure why you and WouldLoveTo don’t understand that. Jay

If you can find flaws in the published research, or know doctors who can, it is part of the process in peer-reviewed academic journals that valid counter-arguments be published. There have very often been public disputes over methods, data and interpretation across the sciences to resolve errors in just that way.

It sounds like there is a prejudice against people who have chosen by profession to study Lyme disease. When treating patients, they are likely to go down the list of what is most probable to least probable, according to existing evidence in journals. That can be frustrating for patients who have especially rare circumstances, but it is kind of the way medicine works.

I was with my cousin today who has just been treated for Lyme Disease. She didn't catch it really early on but hopefully it was early enough. She said she had the worst headache she'd ever had, a fever, vomiting, and fatigue. Mental confusion too. Took two courses of doxycycline and now she feels better and hopes she stays that way. I don't know where her doctor is but she mentioned something about Glastonbury. She also said that she talked to other people with Lyme and one said what helped the most was a book with natural cures. She's going to get that book just to be on the safe side.

I know another people who had Lyme and even captured the stupid infected insect! That person got to a dr right away and was cured by antibiotics. The person lives around Ridgefield or Redding but I don't know who the dr was--anyway, the disease was stopped in its tracks right away.
