I’ve always had a fondness for Beverly Pizza in Black Rock. They’ve been around a LONG time. The photo in the article has the owner, Elias Katsetos with longtime employee Michael “Dickie” Sosnowski, who was ALWAYS there. Dickie was great at his job, always friendly and never lost his cool even in the busiest of times. Sadly, he passed not long ago. A nice article in the Post about him.

As for the others, I’ve never understood the attraction to Colony. Just not for me. Ernie’s has a good reputation as well. I’m not familiar with the others. Are any of you? What do you think? Jay
Haven’t heard of a single one on that list. Are they all New Haven and west?

Roseland is just west of New Haven in Derby, and for years, has been my favorite pie in the state!

You haven't heard of Colony's famous Irish pizza? They even opened one down in St Pete's. Right on Central Ave.
That's because FCounty is obsessed with Irish and Greek pizza. I don't get it. Colony is bad. These people need to stay in their lanes, like drinking whiskey, because they don't know good food if it hit them in the face. Ever hear of an Italian serving up corn beef and cabbage? no, they know how bad it is.

Nope! I didn't even know Irish pizza was a thing. I looked at an apartment building decades ago where a lot of corned beef and cabbage lovers lived. Ran out as fast as I could.

Nope again!

I like pizza but would never drive that far to get one

My favorite pizza in this area is Foxy's in Glastonbury. Obviously that article was very flawed

That looks like Greek pizza. That edge crust is most definitely Greek. Oddly similar to a popular Greek place called Jordan's. Square cuts are a dead giveaway.

I believe it is. I've been going here since the mid-80s. I've tried many others but this is my favorite. I like a crisp crust.

Oh - the other one, though I don't go as often because Foxy's is so close, is Jim's in Windsor. Another that's been around forever. This one's Italian

Pizza is technically not good for me - too many carbs

Foxy Pizza is Greek. It’s crust is thicker and more bread-like. It is almost like sauce and cheese on a slice of bread. It’s not our favorite in town. That would be Angelo’s on Main Street. Also Greek but it’s crust is less bread-like.

We also like Square Peg but it is pricey, just not worth it IMHO ($22 for a large cheese pizza, come on now, it’s just dough, sauce and cheese for god sake). Jay

I've been introduced to pizza passion here on the Forum and I have to agree with the general consensus. New Haven style is the best. There isn't anything even remotely close.
Between the pizza, farm ice cream and hot butter lobster rolls, carbs and tryglyceride levels in CT need to be managed and monitored carefully, no question. You don't want to overindulge in CT, the food here can kill you it's so good.

I do not like Angelo's at all, for quite a few reasons. Every now and then I am invited there for something and am reminded yet again why I don't go.

I did like Panfilio's but that goes way back.

Agreed on Square Peg, but I think I tried their gluten free pizza. My SO did the regular and wasn't that fond of it.

Village Pizza Wethersfield isn't bad but I stand by my prior favorites.
