Be careful about which Otnip you purchase. At least one model had a tendency to explode. The Shove It was a much safer car back in the 70's and early 80's.

The TWA Hotel at JFK was renovated with a 1960s retro style. They have old restored cars parked out front and in the lobby on display. One is a Ford Pinto with a mock vanity plate that says “Explodes”.

I wonder if older people in CT on the 1920s thought new construction was out of character

My Grandparents generation were born in the late 1800's and early 1900's. I don't recall anyone ever mentioning a lot of the new construction being out of character. I heard it more from people in my own generation (Baby Bloomer) when it came to the cookie cutter housing developments in some towns from the 1960's developments and those built later.
