I remember when North side use to be crowded and overran with the cuban mafia, as well as others; when drive inns were the "IN" thing; when the Jolly Jack, Spanish Galleon, Sand Club, Leopard Club, and the Zodiac were all lined around Corpus. I sure miss those days.

This was located at Encantada and SPID (Way out there). Used to be next to a "No gas beyond this point" sign. Way beyond the old PICC.

It is now part of Seashore Learning Center charter school. Lot's of old Dairy Queens closed up. The one on Waldron became a Dominos after it closed.

Thanks CC. I knew it was out there but didn't realize until your post that it was that far out. I also didn't know it closed, I thought Carla or another storm blew it away. I just know I remember it from early childhood.

I believe the "Jito's Bldg is still out there, but it's been closed for almost a decade.

I've been answering a few questions, so I thought I would bring one up. Can anyone tell me about a place I think was called Burger Chalet? Time frame is 1980 ish. ISTR somewhere around Staples and Holly? Got taken there by my Boss. Wasn't stellar, but he thought it was.

CC-Clouseau (and everyone else). If you're on FB, there's a page called We Grew Up in Corpus Christi and there are lots of posts about old restaurants, clubs, and other attractions.
