This would be my first thought as well.

I predict that this will not end well.

2) I added the word "attractive," yes, to garner attention, I admit, but it wasn't a conscious, nefarious thing. I honestly think the boy was robust & handsome (for my lack of wearing glasses, I dunno.) Well, they're not UNattractive, are they? And it doesn't matter anyway. Yes, I stuck "attractive" in there to draw attention to the article, but I wasn't lying.

3) I said 16 (I apologize) because I didn't remember the age they stated in the story, and he was just so dang TALL. Honestly, I thought I heard them say he was 12 but I second guessed what my ears thought they heard. He looked 16. Taller than both of his parents.
It isn't a "current event" when you make stuff up or add your opinion as fact. It's just a story you're telling.

The proportions of heterosexual and homosexual pedophiles among sex... - PubMed - NCBI
Pedophiles are attracted to children. The sex of those children matter less than that they are children. The sex of victim has more to do with access than sexual orientation. In general, men have easier access to boys, so male pedophiles end up abusing boys more often. Abusing a male child does not mean a man is homosexual, the attraction is because the boy is a child.

Gay men are no more likely to be sexually attracted to children than straight men.

There's always the Man-Boy-Love-Association we could discuss. That may or may not be off topic.
Really? None of the gay guys I know were abused as children. They were born gay; they did not choose it or feel that it was forced upon them because of abuse.

I see. So being bounced around from foster home to foster home to group home to being kicked out of the system with little support at 18 is normal?

Gotcha. You have little interest in what is best for these children but are very interested in optics.

2 gay men adopting a 16 year old boy... Who the hell do they think they are fooling besides some naive hippies?
Anyone who does not find this fishy should stop living in a fantasy world...

Yup, like you, who clearly have an addiction to naughty porn sites and cannot distinguish between fantasy and real life.

Have you ever discussed that topic with them? It's very personal. You would have to be an extremely good friend to be trusted with that information. I'm not saying it flippantly. Every 2 minutes someone over the age of 12 is sexually assaulted in the US. That's a lot of victims. But children are often voiceless victims.

It's a shame there are stereotypes in (for example) the Catholic church and sports organizations. Very well publicized crimes. I doubt we'd be having this discussion if that stereotype wasn't in place. Frequently stereotypes are there for a reason.
