Words do change over time. Look at the word "Christmas". It was Christ's Mass. Now it also includes a secular holiday with Santa. It is more than a holy day. Marriage can be the same way.
Maybe, like in some European countries, we should have a civil union for all and add a second, church "marriage" for those that want one.
No, 'words' really dont change. Etymology remains the same for as long as the word is used. Just because someone made up a cartoon character for kids associated with a holiday, doesnt mean everyone stopped going to religious gatherings to honor the Holy Day. Carollers still sing Christmas hymns etc.
You want a same sex union to equate Santa Claus, Frosty the Snowman & Rudolph? Cinter Klaus & St Nicholas happened to be a real guys, that associated himself and/or are associated with the Holy Day of Christmas.
Lol, dont you just love how easily people subvert any notion of compromise. Okies. Cant be done. *shrugs*

That's "nice".
Quote:
nice (adj.)
late 13c., "foolish, stupid, senseless," from Old French nice (12c.) "careless, clumsy; weak; poor, needy; simple, stupid, silly, foolish," from Latin nescius "ignorant, unaware," literally "not-knowing," from ne- "not"
c.1300, "action of marrying, entry into wedlock;" also "state or condition of being husband and wife, matrimony, wedlock;" from Old French mariage "marriage; dowry" (12c.), from Vulgar Latin *maritaticum (11c.), from Latin maritatus, past participle of maritatre "to wed, marry, give in marriage"
With the way things are going, it will. Or the age of consent will get lower.
Considering the AOC has gone up since this countries founding ( the AOC in some of the original colonies was 10) I don't see that happening.

A 1576 law making it a felony to "unlawfully and carnally know and abuse any woman child under the age of 10 years" was generally interpreted as creating more severe punishments when girls were under 10 years old while retaining the lesser punishment for acts with 10- and 11-year-old girls. Jurist Sir Matthew Hale argued that the age of consent applied to 10- and 11-year-old girls, but most of England's North American colonies adopted the younger age.
All of those "good Christians" that set the original AOC so low didn't do it because of gays getting married I bet.
No they probably did it so they can engage in sexual acts with minors. But as we become more and more liberal the laws will continue to become more liberal as well.

Because liberal people are amused when children are sexually abused?
And I would be one of those. I would be a person who would file suit against the florist. Why? Because I fight against things that are wrong. In 2011, I was a nominal plaintiff in an FFRF lawsuit against our very own Gov. of Texas because I thought it was wrong for him to hold a huge prayer rally in his official capacity as governor. Even though we lost the case (which we expected) we showed the governor and the state that we felt what we was doing was a misuse of his power as a politician and government leader. Standing up for injustice, even if only a little, is what makes the world a better place.
Did you file a similar action against Obama for appearing at the National Prayer Day? There is not guaranteed right to "Freedom From Religion" Don't attend a church, synagogue or temple if you don't want religion, but you are barking up the wrong tree if you think a nation, whose first President took the oath of office on a Bible, is going to cower to the anti-religion coalition. Of course you lost...you knew you would, but you wanted your 15 seconds of fame to make yourself feel cool...like a totally real agitator.
