I wish I had a few thousand Confederate Flags that I could sell to the Flag Burners and the great new interest in the Confederate Flag that has been generated by the Political Correctness Nazis.

For those who believe in the rule of law, we say..... "if you break the law, you get arrested and pay the consequences."

And heck, what if person "A" doesn't like the cross outside displayed on a church front lawn because it doesn't fit into their belief system? Do they now have the right to remove that cross?

Slip slip slip down the slippery slope with your attitude my friend....scary.
In this context, the saying "bless her/his heart" is not a compliment. It expresses derision.

We have seen this on the big screen recently in such movies as "Django unchained" and "12 Years a Slave".
In the 1950s, the flag was appropriated as a symbol against the civil rights movement. It has a more recent history than 150+ years ago.

Is there a Nazi flag flying over government property somewhere in the world that I don't know about? In Germany it's illegal to show the Nazi flag except in the context of anti-National Socialism or for educational purposes.

Except for Northern Ireland is there somewhere in Ireland where the Union Jack is flown on government property?

No, it has a more recent history.

True enough but it doesn't fly on their actual land (reservations) now, does it?

Liberals are actually disproportionately responsible for the progress that many groups, not just African-Americans, have made in this country. I am confused about this claim, are you saying that liberals are responsible for racism? That liberals were behind segregation and the Jim Crow laws? The part of this country that has had the worst track record by far when it comes to respecting human rights, the South (although it has made great strides over the last few decades), is definitely not a liberal bastion.

I'm so glad they removed that eye sore! There's zero difference between that flag and the Nazi flag!

This remove the confederate flag nonsense reminds me of those liberals at UC Irvine who were offended by the US Flag and voted to have it removed.

It really is time to throw political correctness in the garbage. IMO political correctness is just another tool for the intellectually dishonest.
Would you feel differently about the Confederate flag if you were an African-American Southerner?
It isn't a case of removing something from the South Carolina state house grounds merely because it offends someone. People can be offended by anything. This is a case of reversing a decision to begin flying the flag over the state house grounds in the 60s as a sign of defiance against the civil rights movement. It is a sign of an attempt to stymie an effort to do away with an oppressive system that treated a significant part of the state's population as being lesser due to their race. To say that you shouldn't take the flag down because people can be offended by anything fails to acknowledge how big of a race problem South Carolina had and, in many respects, still has. Yes, people can be offended by many things that are silly. This isn't even close to being such a case. And I don't think it is just liberals who can see the problem. Yes, liberals can be very extreme to, but they are disproportionately responsible for the social progress that many groups, not just African-Americans, have made over the last century and a half.
As a matter of free speech people are allowed to display it on their private property, but given the history of the Confederate flag it should not be displayed on public property, particularly in places where it's display can be traced back to some sort of show of defiance against the civil rights movement, as is the case here.
As for the PC comments, anything can be taken to extremes, but do you REALLY want to go back to the days when people can be openly degraded and treated like they were not too many decades ago? To me, that would be a pretty crude state of affairs.
