LOL..use Walmart's global profits to pay US employees more.
And what..borrow against book value ? What do you do next year then ?
And then compare Walmart workers to Google workers ?
You can make fun of the article all you want, or you could try to do something useful such as PROVING that the gross amount of a wage increase results in the an equivalent reduction in net income..oh wait, you can't do that, can you? So you resort to ridicule
Average Crane Operator salary in my state is $30,000.
Average Crane Operator Salary in NYC is $44,000
Kind of insulting to them if you ask me.
*Of course, your dad likely had quite a few extra certifications and years under his belt that he was likely making much more than that -- hence the "engineer" title.
Those figures are wildly out of line with reality. I'm not blaming you, I'm blaming your source.
My Dad had a "blue seal" license and later got his "cherry picker" (crane) license. He didn't pull in $500k but he pulled in more than $44k in the 1970's!
While I agree that the min wage should probably be raised in some states, The idea of $15.00/hour is ridiculous in most states, and is completely ridiculous to do it in individual city's. I'm actually looking forward to the news interviews with the newly fired low info voter types, whining about how they were replaced by clean cut middle aged men and women who live out in the suburbs.
Fast food jobs are to make a living when you still live with your folks. Not a job to raise a family on. I figured that out when I was a kid working at McDonnalds...

It's been mentioned in other wording, but your reinforcing of this is appreciated. Some people just don't get it.

The sad REALITY of this is that a good chunk of these workers are between 25-64. Remember guys, if you can't find work and you're stuck at one of these jobs... just stay with your parents!
Thank you for your answers wolf39us, Arcenal352, 2sleepy, and HappyTexan. I am curious to see how things turn out. Is there any indication of higher-than-minimum-wage-employees receiving a bump in pay as well? I'd be pretty upset if I were a manager at BK making $17 an hour (which is probably a long shot) and my fry cooks were bumped up to $15 and I didn't receive any increase.
