If someone happens to blow .08 or .09 or even .10, it doesn't necessarily mean they were too impaired to avoid the accident. It might have happened anyway, that even stone cold sober reflexes wouldn't have been fast enough.

In the cases of the people I have known, who were seriously injured or killed in a drunk driving accident, the drunk driver was utterly sloshed, not mildly buzzed.

I'm not excusing buzzed driving, but like every other issue, there are shades of gray.
The bus? Not all drunks are in big urban area with a bus or subway. Many drunks are in small towns.

Perhaps there is a business waiting to be started up here...........Drive service for those who have been suspended for being drunk behind the wheel.

Oh wait........why would somebody who doesn't do the right thing, and gets caught doing it......... such as drink and drive, spend money to obey their court ordered sentence ? What was I thinking ?

How about the car that they used to break the law.............being seized? Would that help them not drive while suspended ? Maybe. If the car still has monthly payments to the bank or a loan company, well that's the breaks, buddy. Keep on paying, as you agreed to do on the contract, right ?

If you think that I am tough on this subject, you are right.

It's not if you were driving someone else's car and the owner was the one paying for the insurance. I know three people who that's happened to over the years. And I mean three different people, at three different times in three different places. One of them was my mom! I don't think her car should have been.............seized. She wouldn't have been able to get to her medical appointments.

That sounds logical, but it doesn't always work that way. One of my nephews got a DUI when he wasn't driving. He was taking a nap in his car because he'd had too much to drink. He was picked up and his license suspended because the keys were in the glove box--within reach. I find it reprehensible that someone can be punished for choosing to not drive.

Yup, if you are going to sleep it off in the car, toss the keys in the trunk.

Some places don't have taxi service. You figure that out when you need a taxi. I wonder if those places have Uber. I guess it depends.

Lol.
A 1.3? Are you sure you are not drunk now?

Aw...meh meh meh...I can't drive to work...meh meh...boo hoo...then don't drive drunk, you inconsiderate, self-absorbed pos (not you...anyone who cries about no car right after they just proved they don't deserve the right to drive bc they cannot handle the responsibility).

She unleashed a drunk on society and weaponized them.

Losing her car was a lot nicer than what I am thinking right now.
