Drug users seriously are useless in society, especially heroin users. The relapse rate for heroin is so high. It's sad but it's true.
He didn't deserve to die, of course not, but it's no surprise he did. He made bad decision after bad decision (yes including not just paying the ticket) and he died.
If there was negligence I hope these people don't get away with murder. I don't care if he was a drug addict or not, if they messed up they need to be held accountable.
This is SO wrong, so sad, and so unforgivable, but the fact remains that if he had been a responsible adult, this would not have happened.
I feel much sorrier for nursing home patients who die from neglect or for children who die in wars or because of a drive-by shooting than I do for people like Mr. Stocjevski.
(But, to be clear, I am not excusing the guards or anyone who should have been responsible for seeing to his welfare. They failed to do their job, and they should be punished for it.)
I agree with this. While the county jail workers should be punished for their negligence (whatever their policy in Michigan calls for), in the end this is the fault of the man in jail. He was addicted to drugs, he broke the law and ended up in jail. Jail is a bad place where bad things can happen. It is his fault something bad happened because he got himself thrown in there. Loss of life is always a tragedy, and I do feel for his family. I just cant help but blame him at least as much as the negligent jail.
Let's get rid of all traffic tickets, then. And make all traffic laws appropriate for the design & condition of the corresponding road.
This way things like this will at least be preventable. We can't expect the revenue generators to wisen up & be weren't humans, after all.
