I know that police officer. We served in the Army together years ago.
What she did was an example of a street level engagement in building relationships. It's community based policing. We do the same things in Iraq and Afghanistan with talking to the locals in what's referred to as street level engagements versus key leader engagements. KLE's would be with community leaders such as politicians, religious leaders, etc.
I guess the people complaining here want the police to be robots but when they do act like robots, people complain about that too.
That's cool that you know her. Tell her good job for me.
the complaining is about the title of the thread not truly reflecting the video, for after the fight stopped, then the officer got down and boogies.

Damned if you do, and damned if you don't. Like I said earlier on, sometimes you have to think outside of the box, and therefore; if further violence was avoided, then that is a good thing.
A trained, armed police officer uses her head to bring about a peaceful outcome and some posters ridicule her?
This is the sort of behavior that opens up a positive dialogue between police officers and the community. If they see that policemen are "people too" perhaps in the future they will be more likely to talk to them and not fear or dislike them.
If the police had taken a hostile approach, it would likely have resulted in an arrest which would probably mean that the Officer now has to call back up so situation ties up more officers. Now officer has to take arrestees to be booked and fill out paperwork for the rest of the day over a misdemeanor instead of helping with more important calls on serious crimes.

It's bizarre.
They only reason I can think of is that they are angry the police didn't use physical force to resolve the situation.
But hey, they must have done the science behind it or they wouldn't be advocating for it.
Would they?
The fight was already over.
The de-escalation of tensions after the fight is one thing and handled well but then that was not the intent of the thread regardless of others posts claiming it was.
No mention that the cops were reacting to lawlessness which included a fight requiring police action. The lawless behavior was glossed over and if it wasn't even part of the story.
The OP isn't stupid, the thread title wasn't a mistake, it was designed to portray that instead of other tactics, maybe dancing and joking are used to stop fights. Nothing could be further from wrong. To be clear, it isn't about the cop, this is about trying tonuse this incident to contrast use of force incidents which are not the same, here the fight was already over.
Dance and laugh and joking is fine, after the violence of the fight is stopped.
The title was misleading, on purpose and the intent to basically say "see, cops don't need to use force to break up fights, they can joke, dance and be jovial" Not really and not in this incident either.
No one cares, Year, that's what you don't get. You're the only person who cares about semantics.
This is a positive story about a cop for a change, and all you can do is gnash your teeth about the fricken title of the thread?
Get real.
