The story is not about breaking up the fight, that already took place.
Instead of arguing and scrapping about the wording by the OP about the article, let's just play music and dance.

The fight was just stopped by the cops, the tensions were high, this female cop de-escalated the situation in a light hearted and friendly way. An admirable and exemplary behavior and I for one salute her for this.

For those saying that the fight was already over, and that the officer later chose to dance with the kids...

I was a social worker for over a decade. I have seen these simmering on again/ off again urban neighborhood conflicts.

These kids fighting (or dancing) out there get into commotion like fights because they feel aimless and bored. A fight breaks up the monotony. It's exciting. But every fight has a winner and a loser, so the losers go regroup and come out to fight again. Nobody may ever have any clear idea who said what to whom, stole what, or strayed into somebody else' territory.

They'll typically wait for the LEOs to leave, then reengage. It's not about fighting to settle anything. There are no Marquis of Queensbury rules. No official end or beginning. Just ongoing commotion that flares up from time to time.

More than "breaking up" a fight, or reducing tensions, the female officer provided a sort of unexpected novelty for the group, and hopefully reoriented the kids' views on police officers.

I could even see the kids starting another fight just to get that particular officer back to break it up again!

There are no good answers.

What is your issue, exactly? On threads where people sound to you to be anti-police, you try to call people out, than this person makes thread about a great cop and a cop who values community relations, and you're upset about that and calling HIM out?? What the heck is your agenda, just to pick fights on every thread?

no.... it is about deescalating the tension remaining after the fight was broken up.... and doing it in a positive manner that left everyone feeling better about everyone else....

Did you read the thread title?

This had nothing to do with breaking up a fight but was intended to contrast what happened in this incident with the immediate actions in other incidents at the time of the criminal activity.

This is your assumption, IMO poster was trying to highlight a good cop, as opposed to the many stories on here that show cops in a negative light: "Taylor said. “I never expected cops to be that cool. There are some good cops.”

Why would it bother you to have a good cop's efforts recognized and publicized?

Politics/gender issues/biased media aside...............

Anything the police can do to de-escalate a situation over using lethal force is generally a good one.

If the title of the thread bothers you so much, ask the OP or a moderator to change it.

No one else is bothered by it.

We all saw the video and got what the OP was trying to reflect on.

I know that police officer. We served in the Army together years ago.

What she did was an example of a street level engagement in building relationships. It's community based policing. We do the same things in Iraq and Afghanistan with talking to the locals in what's referred to as street level engagements versus key leader engagements. KLE's would be with community leaders such as politicians, religious leaders, etc.

I guess the people complaining here want the police to be robots but when they do act like robots, people complain about that too.
