I have to agree. The casino wants you to pay, pay, pay, but when the time comes and they have to pay you a crapload of money, all of a sudden the machine is broken. But the machine is never broken when it just eats players' money and doesn't give them anything back. How convenient

By your reckoning if you buy a Big Mac at McDonalds, hand the cashier a $10 bill, and the cash register says your change is $10,000.00, you feel you are owed that money? Same exact thing. Electronic error, not super payday for you.
It is an apples to bananas comparison comparing a faulty jackpot to a 10,000 change. With the latter, you know what you handed the clerk, sometimes they hit the wrong key. The difference here is the expectation is what is shown. If I were her I would have not taken the 80 and told them that is unacceptable and they should have given me the slot's jackpot if it was off.

Indian casinos are even more greedy than Vegas casinos. I could take the same bankroll to a Vegas casino and play with it an entire weekend in direct contrast to an Indian casino which will suck up the same amount within hours. On the same type machines too.

The problem is they think they are getting revenge by scalping the white man. I can almost imagine them watching everyone upstairs laughing at the players, calling them suckers etc.

And they get away with it because ... political correctness.

Now, what this woman needs to do is name and shame them all over social media. THATS what gets things done. 80 dollars..pfffft....I would have thrown the money in their greedy ass faces and told them to shove it.

If she had the expectation that a random nickel slot machine in a two-bit reservation casino could possibly pay 8.5 million dollars, then her expectations would have been just as faulty as expecting $10,000 change for a $10 bill.

Well if the jackpot isn't listed it isn't a clear one unless there was a progressive multiplier for it.

I do not gamble on games of chance. Slot machines, lotteries and the like are kind of really no brainer games. Like bingo to maybe. Limited skill required. I prefer poker. It is strategy. If you have a clue as to what you are doing, you can do ok. If not, well then you should practice more in a non-casino environment. Practice at anything typically improves performance. Not so with slots or lotteries. BTW, I prefer Indian Casinos. Just a preference.

Based on the convoluted statements by the casino, it looks like she should have been entitled to at least 6000 dollars.

Modern electronic slot machines are not a game of chance they are rigged to only pay out a certain percentage and are only legally required to pay out a certain percentage and the casino is always gonna make money in the long run. This is just another example of what crooks the casinos are. If the machine was malfunctioning and not paying out the legally required percentage would the casino have paid her out the maximum jackpot just for playing? Hell no they wouldn't.

Those of us on Team Customer should bombard the contact/email at the casino to show our support....and maybe that customers won't stay quiet anymore while you continue to rip off people in these tough economic times.
