I agree. Actually, if ROTC had better communication and gave advance notice that they were going to be doing exercises, it would be fine during the regular week as well. When the NYPD and Port Authority police plan on doing emergency drills, they notify the public that we're all gonna be seeing scary looking guys with big guns all around, including inside the train stations, but don't worry because it's only drill, and oh yeah, please don't freak out and call 911. If NYPD and Port Authority police can give advance notice to the entire tri-state area, I would think that UND could give advance notice to its campus.

With all the campus shootings going on, I can understand this professor's initial panic. And it WAS 911 that instructed her to call them anytime she saw a gun on campus. HOWEVER, now that she knows what's up with ROTC...if she does indeed plan to call 911 "every time" she sees ROTC "for the next couple weeks"...well then, she's a dingbat and needs a psych eval and a hiatus.

I mean, I can generally tell people in the Army from your average psycho with a gun but maybe I'm just special...

You'd think that identifying ROTC would be easy enough. Not sure how many people planning to shoot up a place do it in formation. Maybe I'm just a little out of the loop.

What a pansy. If she calls again write her up, again after that, walking papers.

Maybe the professor needs to read her emails.

I went to college. I live near a large college. I know what ROTC cadets look like. They look like soldiers. They are part of the environment, the scenery so to speak, as much as grungy hipsters and professors and the grounds crew and pretty buildings.

She is a loon. What's next, calling 911 on the color guard for the Basketball Game?

Very true.

She's an idiot. I wouldn't want such and ignorant fool teaching my child.

ROTC should make an announcement so people don't freak out.

Still, the associate professor is a narcissistic, passive-aggressive anti-gun jerk for vowing to call 911 and tying up resources every time she sees ROTC on maneuvers.
