OJ back at 47 was still an ex-pro athlete and pretty formidable dude, I wouldn't want to mess with him,
Goldman was a lightweight in comparison. They have weight divisions in boxing for a reason.
I'd agree if we're comparing a '5'9" 170 lb guy versus a '6'1" 210 lb guy with both being roughly the same age and level of fighting experience.
Ron being considerably smaller but likely more agile means he probably loses, but would get in some shots. OJ being much older and slower (but possibly stronger) could deal more lethal blows. I just don't think OJ had the combat ability to win a fight that cleanly against a black-belt. Win yes, but not without any damage.
Jason Simpson however.....he's bigger, younger and more combat experienced than his father. Him dominating a fight against Goldman with few if any scratches makes a lot more sense. But again, I think both Jason and OJ were there, regardless of who landed the killing blows.
Yes, OJ was able to avoid prison because of his money, but the reason it generated so much attention, and so many people still hate him to this day, is because he's a rich black man and the victims were a young white woman and man.
I just hate people who kill their spouses in general.
wrong, everyone knows he was guilty of murder.
and shame on the judge for not overturning the verdict.
guilty as sin, oj is guilty as sin, he needs to rot in hell for eternity.
I was studying biomedical engineering at the time of the trials. The DNA evidence was simply overwhelming for those familiar with biochemistry and genetics.
But the problem was that (1) many of the jurors were from an older Baby Boomer generation not taught the details of DNA in HS because it was too new and not normally taught in secondary schools prior to the 1980s. And (2) the younger jurors on the trial were from the inner cities where science education tends to be poor in impoverished areas.
If the jury had been comprised of science majors from UCLA, Stanford, Berkeley, UW at Seattle, Oregon, etc., then it would have been a 1-dimensional rout by the prosecution. OJ would have most likely been convicted.
But Barry Scheck had the most unfamiliar jury possible in regards to DNA science and was able to convince them that the evidence was destroyed due to bad handling by Dennis Fung. It is true that the evidence was mishandled, but not 100% of it. Let's say 60% of it was mishandled and 40% was valid, then that should have been enough. As an analogy, let's say a crime scene had the same fingerprint in 10 locations but the investigators accidentally wiped away 6. The remaining 4 fingerprint locations should still be enough for presentation. The DNA was more solid.
So DNA was enough at the time. It's just that the Baby Boomer/impoverished jurors from low quality schools were unable to grasp the scientific power of the evidence. It was the perfect "storm" to stop the prosecution even though they were right. Scheck annihilated Fung on the stand. It's amazing how the "Dream Team" defense nullified the DNA evidence with drama because of the uneducated jury. OJ was guilty in my opinion because of the nitrogenous base pairs, purines and pyrimidines from his erythrocytes found at the scene.
Let's just pretend like he didn't murder those two since he was found not guilty. Even then I bet Nicole is spinning in her grave. Remember those photos of the black eyes and bruises he put on her? I believe the police were called for DV issues. Nicole's family and friends testified that their marriage was full of conflict. He's a liar.
I thought parole boards would consider whether the convict was taking full responsibility for their actions in making their decision. In this case, OJ still isn't admitting who and what he was. They should have kept him for a few more years just for that lie even though Nicole isn't connected to the reason he went to prison this time.
I thought the same thing. Conflict free life? What a douche. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he violated parole.
Part of me still thinks he wasn't alone. Either he did the crime with someone else or he saw it done and helped cover it up. His eldest son had anger management issues, was over six feet tall, 230 lbs and was said to be an expert in hand-to-hand combat especially with knives.
Ron Goldman was an athletically built, martial arts black-belt in his physical prime while OJ was a 47-year old with arthritis and bad knees. Yet somehow OJ barely had a scratch?
the media, and the world have spent way too much time on OJ. this man needs to be put out to pasture already.
shame on the 12 juriors that didnt put him away for good the first time, shame on them.
I know it would have taken me all but of 30 seconds to give my guilty charge in.
Shame on the original jury? Why? If I was on the jury, I would not have convicted either, even if I knew in my hear that OJ did it. Simply put, trials and convictions should be about the law and facts. Not on emotion or anything else. If only based on the glove debacle, alone, I would not have convicted. Prosecutors can't assertively state that "x" are the gloves worn by the murder suspect during the commission of the crimes and then expect a conviction after its shown the gloves don't fit the murder suspect. For the record, I think OJ did it. But he was acquitted by a jury of his peers, like it or not. I also think that he was given too much time for what was a first offense in the eyes of the law for the crimes that he's convicted of in Nevada. IMO, this was a case where his celebrity and peoples views on whether the jury got it right decades ago hurt him. But that's not how our justice system should work. In any event, he met all of the conditions for parole, which is all that should have factored into the board's decision.
Not really.
He's a fat, old sociopath who chooses to live in Florida.
Isn't that becoming a requirement to live in Florida?
