There needs to be a special circle in hell for "people" like this.

No, her life is not over. Hopefully, she will pick herself up and deal with her horrible adversity. Remember, blindness is not a reason for her life to be over, but her psychological issues may need to be dealt with. However, the person who did this to her was a monster, and he should pay for this accordingly.

Agree. A very slow execution is in order here.

So many men are violent. Domestic abuse is rampant.

https://www.thestar.com/news/crime/2...cs_expert.html

Q: For the average Torontonian, what are the odds of getting killed in a random crime, like, say, a stray bullet?
A: In Toronto, about 12 people per year are killed by a stranger. There are 2.6 million people in the city, so your chances of getting killed by a stranger are about one in 220,000.
So, not very likely at all.
Q: How do you calculate that?
A: We work in terms of statistics for recent times, like the number of homicides per year. In 2007, there were 84 homicides in Toronto. (It usually goes from 60 to about 80.)
There are also statistics on the victim-offender relationship. Only about 15 per cent (of victims) are killed by a stranger. So 15 per cent of 80 homicides ...
In comparison, your chances of getting killed by your spouse are one in 135,000, or about 50 per cent higher.

It is really disgusting how low someone can go. Imagine at one time they loved each other.
A person with that much anger needs to go away or better yet be put down but since he didn't kill her how much prison time will he actually get? Are we talking 5-10 and time off for good behavior?
She will suffer for the rest of her life and he could be out walking around free in a handful of years.

This poor woman is now blind and so is justice.

I seriously doubt that the man who did this is even capable loving anyone but himself. Power and complete control is what they have to have. What I don't understand is why some women seem to not be able to see the signs/red flags until it's too late. There's usually a progression of incidents leading up to these severely violent actions (or killings), that should send the abused party running fast and far away.
It sickens me that this woman suffered this horrendous attack. It's way too high of a price to pay for a poor choice in men. She will be blind for life, he should be in prison until she gets her sight back.

I work in the ophthalmology field, and the amount of force it takes to remove someone's eyeballs is far more than most people believe, even if they are cut out with a sharp instrument. The eyes are very protected by the bony sockets along with the tissues that hold them securely in place. In the rare instances they pop out, it is usually caused by terrible car accidents. I've seen some pretty gnarly orbital traumas and even then the eyeball isn't completely removed, but poked by something. They are usually removed surgically due to cancer or uncontrolled glaucoma. Anyway, that poor woman. She will be forever reminded of that terrible relationship she was in.

What better example of "Better Safe then Sorry". I agree, who cares if he is removed from society?

We have to fix what has gone wrong with the justice system.

Regardless of the disposition of his case this monster has scarred his victim in a manner so despicable that there is no punishment harsh enough to match the pain he's inflicted upon her.
On top of the injustice you point out is the fact that some court will demand his release after some psychiatrist testify his insane behavior is treatable with drugs. Then he gets loose on the countryside and refuses to take the drugs. Thus more victim(s).
