Completely disagree. It's basic common sense and safety. You don't need to have donated sperm or given birth to have that as evidenced by the multitude of idiot parents out there who disprove your theory.
He was careless and Chloe paid the price.
To a degree I agree with you, some people do lack common sense and safety no matter if they are parents or not and he seems like one of those kind of people. I do also remember when I was starting to babysit and I was twelve, and always being mindful to watch over the kids, making sure the doors were closed, patio, etc. and being with them when they were not napping. At times, we had money to go to the movies, and they needed to go to the bathroom, I took them to the ladies' restroom even when they were boys, and no ladies complained because they were at the age where it wasn't an issue. I never let go of their hands while walking in the street not even for a second, they went everywhere I went. I was really mindful of holding their hand and not letting them run around. Sure, they complained sometimes, but I'm not there just for fun, I was there to keep them safe.
I still can't get over that the GF is claiming that he didn't know that the window was open. Wasn't it stated that the fall didn't happen immediately? Wasn't he standing in front of it for 30 seconds or something? Stand in front of a window and time yourself for 30 seconds. It's actually a pretty long time. It's not like he walked over to the window and she was out of it before he could realize what was even happening. He actually stood there for a bit.
^^^ I agree with you on that, bizcuit. Also, I think it is just a lie he told himself to deal with what he did. Now he is controlled by the lie he has told himself, his family, and the authorities.

And I fully agree with you geebabe. I don't even think it's a fully conscious lie with GP, he simply can't accept it's totally on him and his choices. I do feel empathy for him.
The guy is clearly lying. He's said different stories several times. There's clear evidence to prove it otherwise they wouldn't have charged him. I don't feel sorry for clearly stupid people. He deserves jail. The family should get NO money from NO ONE and just deal with the fact that they have an raging idiot in their family.
Mister, I can tell you didn’t read the thread. It was a ways away from the kids play area. It’s a area with tables and chairs where people sit. It was negligence not just a accident.
Terrible accident, they happen. The GP having this on his conscience for life I think is enough punishment.
It seems to me that even if they were in a kids area, that the window would be high enough to not have to worry about a kid under normal circumstances. The child fell because the grandfather lifted her up into danger. If she was walking around on her own I don't think she could have fallen out. The cruise line shouldn't be held responsible in my opinion.
this should have just been treated as a horrible accident.
Grandpa shouldn't have been charged.
Parents shouldn't have filed a lawsuit.
They have just made a bad situation worse.
+1...........
