“It was a nightmare of the likes I could never have imagined before,” he continued. “I wasn’t drinking and I wasn’t dangling her out of a window. I just wanted to knock on the glass with her as we did together so many times before. I was just so horribly wrong about our surroundings. I was placed in charge of keeping my beautiful granddaughter safe and I failed. It will always be a constant nightmare every day and every night for the rest of my life.”

These are the words of the step-grandfather. I think this about sums it up. It wasn't intentional. He wasn't drunk. He meant her no harm. He knows that he was responsible. He is heartbroken.

What else is there to say?

He could say the truth, as shown on videos. "I picked her up, dangled her out the window, and then accidentally dropped her."

And I bet Gramps doesn't get invited along on the next family cruise.

He never mentions what the video shows...that before picking up the child, he leaned over the railing for a number of seconds looking out the window, must have been only a couple of inches from where the glass would have been, and still apparently didn't notice that there was no glass. It would be kind of like walking up to a car and looking in the window for 10 seconds and then saying you didn't notice that the window was completely open. It's no wonder most people found that unbelievable.

Gee you can see from the video that he clearly leaned out over the window.

An adult would have to climb up and purposely go over the edge to fall out. That lawyer makes it seem that there are open windows at foot level that one would just tumble out of.

That kid had no business up there if it had not been for the grandmother's husband or boyfriend. I can't call him the child's grandfather.

The guy is a moron and still cannot accept responsibility for killing his own grandchild. He needs to go to jail

Actually, I think when asked on the Other Side, (like in 'Defending Your Life' at the Sushi bar, haha),
''How'd you die''...it's usually stupidity, avoidable accidents, super bad judgment, distractions,
doing 3 things at once...esp on ladders and driving!
My opinion only - no scientific proof.
This plea agreement is very wise.
I'm glad he hasn't committed suicide!

She was not his grandchild.

He was recently married to the kids grandmother.
