I'm done with this back and forth with you.
You're entitled to your opinions, obviously. But if you can't see a difference between McDuff and this guy, I think you don't understand how our court system works, and why the jury is allowed to make decisions of life in prison or the death penalty.
There was no one in the McDuff case who could come forward and say he had redeeming qualities - where in this case, there were people all the way back from childhood, and current friends including an ex-wife and girlfriend who said there's another side to him. I certainly wouldn't want to be alone with him, but I do get why a jury would spare the family further pain. I can empathize with his family.
And the jury here did think he's different than the jury in the McDuff case. Regardless of what you or I opining on a message board believe.
The point is in the US, there are many who don’t like the death penalty. I’m not always for it, because the question up of reasonable doubt can come up. In other cases like this, an evil man killed and tortured a girl whose only crime was trusting him. There is zero doubt of his guilt. He enjoyed it and would undoubtedly do it again. Yes, in cases like this, swift execution would save the taxpayers untold dollars and rid the world of a piece of debris. I have sympathy for the gays the Saudi’s execute, but in this case, let them at him.

Why would you be done with our conversation?
I judge the person by the acts, the fact that this pos has parents who care about him doesn't change what he is - a monster. If McDuff had parents who cared enough about him to beg for his life at his trial would that change your opinion of his deserving of the death penalty?
There's a little comic relief. Besides raping and killing and cutting up a girl, he was convicted of two more heinous monstrous acts: Making two false statements to the FBI. The reason the FBI were involved was that he used a cell-phone and a car, which are instruments of interstate commerce. Using a phone or a car makes it a federal crime.
This evil monster killed, raped, and tortured Yingying Zhang in 2017. Then cut up her body and disposed of it in 3 garbage bags. The devils mother Ellen Williams begged the jury not to give him the death penalty. She said that it would be devastating to her. So did his father who cried and begged the jury not to seek the death penalty. They said they love him unconditionally. His sister Andrea said he was a gentle soul. I say screw them!!.

Which 2 jurors were against the death penalty - Democrat or Republican ??
As I understand it, they couldn't have been against the death penalty and been allowed to sit on a death penalty case.
I learned in the Scott Peterson case, that if the prosecutor is asking for the death penalty, ALL of the jurors have to be open to imposing the death penalty.
Opposition is self-declared, and assuming everyone answered honestly is risky. Richard Speck's death sentence was reversed on appeal because 250 jurors were dismissed for being opposed. Some people want or don't want to be on a jury and will give answers accordingly.
This freak needed to be fried. Can u imagine the terror this poor girl had while she was being brutally murdered? Screw his family....screw him....and screw the bleeding hearts that think he shouldn't be executed. I hope they get his azz in prison. Just like they got Whitey Bulger. This freak is the son of the devil.

It would be great if he could meet a similar fate as Muammar Khaddaffi met. Or the same fate that Whitey Bulger met while in prison. I am surprised that haven't gotten to him in prison yet.

Why did this disgusting human being do this? What was his motive? Just a weird sexual fetish????
I would say that at this point, life in prison without parole is a worse fate than death. Wait till the other inmates get their hands on him....
Alternatively, send him to China to be sentenced...
