Horrible, such a random and unfortunate event. Leaves behind 5 kids.

Quote:
Heather Garcia, 29, was celebrating her niece's birthday on Saturday.

Just before 3 a.m., officers with the California Highway Patrol responded to the northbound 101 Freeway and Los Angeles Street after receiving reports of a crash. Family members who spoke with Eyewitness News on Sunday say Garcia was dancing when she tripped and fell back on the door.

They say the door opened and sent Garcia out onto the freeway.

Investigators say that's when the 29-year-old was hit by a moving vehicle. The driver of that vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

A lot of kids for a 29 year old (or anyone!). Sad that they lost their mother and she missed out on so much more life.

This is so unbelievably tragic. I feel so sorry for her family.

I have never been on a party bus but one would assume the doors would not be that easy to open. This might be a case of negligence.

Kind of a story that is so rare, but with over 320,000,000 people in the US, you can find anything. RIP.

Aren’t those doors not supposed to open if you fall into them?
I’m picturing the same type of bus used as an airport shuttle.
Those doors shouldn’t open if a 250 pound person fell into it should they?

That's just bad idea. Afraid of being hit by another vehicle while in the bus. Or the bus must have been on fire already. Just horrible.

It just goes to show that when it's your time, it's your time.

Sounds like the bus was driving with the door open and even if it wasn't, I'm sure there will be a huge lawsuit.

I think I read there was a go fund me too, so they will at least get money from her death. Not trying to be cold hearted, I know they'd rather have her. I'm over these go fund me's where some people really make out financially while other people don't get a funeral when they die because family can't afford it.

I guess people should think twice about these party buses. I'd never party on one for many reasons.
