I've never done virtual reality of any kind...just getting that out there, so maybe my perceptions are wrong...
If I'm in a VR environment...how REAL is it going to seem to me?
And while I get that it's not real, and thus I wouldn't be getting physically hurt for real. No real vaginal bleeding. No worrying about getting an STD. No fear of pregnancy. But aren't a lot of the 'feelings' going to be the same? Someone is holding me down, helpless, showing me that 'you' have the power over me? That the only way to avoid this happening to me is...not playing the game? Just like in real life...the woman is supposed to watch how she dresses, and how she behaves, and where she goes...and it's her fault if she's humilliated?
And wouldn't most girls find it creepy and scary that they're being raped?
I don't know...I think this might be an issue that not's going to go away.
I think the psychological effect of that needs to be studied. I bet it's capable of inducing PTSD. At the very least, these games or technology should have warning labels about potential psychological injury.

So, basically what you are saying is, if you are sitting in front of a computer and you have an 'avatar' online...and that avatar is being sexually attacked by another avatar, that would produce a feeling of being assaulted or raped?
I realize VR is a little different, but its basically your avatar in a digital realm (so to speak)? Its not like the other person is in your physical space and using force upon you. You can stop it instantly by turning it off, (there is nothing the assailant could do at that point), he could no longer impose any force on your avatar.
I do agree with the last part of your post, I think its ridiculous that today, in 2021, jurors STILL factor in how a female was dressed, how late it was, or what part of town she was in, it shows were are stuck in the past.

People have been doing this in online games for at least 20 years now. This is not something new.
PTSD ? Good grief..just grow some and ignore the idiots or take action like logging off.
The general population is going to have to get used to this because this is the "virtual world" that online gamers have been living in and are used to.
The woman is vice president of Metaverse Research for Kabuni Ventures, an immersive technology company. Meta released Horizon Worlds to everyone 18 years and older in the United States and Canada on Dec. 9 after an invite-only beta test a year ago.
What a fantastic way to get publicity for her company. Stellar marketing move.
Next up: We find a money trail paying those male gamers to attack her avatar.

Honestly...I don't know. I'm asking too. This lady says she was raped, playing a virtual reality game. I've never in my life played a VR game, so I DON'T know what it feels like. I don't know if this is manufactured outrage, OR...DOES she deal with all the feelings that come with being raped? I don't know.
And then people try to tell me that morals are not going to hell in a handbasket today.
And a similar thought went through my head as well.
Is it really just a "this has been going on for years, get used to it" kind of thing? Guys just don't take responsibility for their own actions?
I don't know...I'm wondering if gaming will turn in to a whole nother "me too" and all the guys will blame the 'woke' people because they couldn't grow up and play nice.
