I have a new theory on the crossing the street thing. What if the perp was already planning to cross the street for some reason, like the subway entrance was on that side, or whatever -- she was just walking to a planned destination, and just as she's stepping onto the sidewalk after having crossed the street, that's when she shoves the poor lady.
To the victim, it would seem like the perp crossed the street to shove her.
I still don't know what the motive would be, I suspect the perp is just angry and violent and maybe she had already been arguing with her fiance or something that made her more angry and she took it out on the first person she encountered in her path.

Yes, we don't know if the attacker crossed the street to go after the victim, just that she crossed the street. That may mean nothing at all.
But I doubt very much the victim ever even noticed that the woman who would later knock her down crossed the street in the first place. Why would someone really note some other rando crossing a street?

Witnesses apparently said the attacker yelled/cursed at the victim, then crossed the street and pushed her. Hard to know what to believe, but if the yelling/cursing is true, that may be the reason other people remembered it.

Ah, I didn't hear about the pre-crossing yelling. I thought she was just picked up crossing on camera.
Hmm. Wonder now if they had an interaction on the train or something.
My guess is that the older lady simply was in her way and so she impulsively and angrily shoved her. Maybe she was intoxicated and it sounds like she was already predisposed towards some level of hostility or aggression based on neighbors', former acquaintances' accounts of past behavior. She might have been very angry if in a fight with her fiancee as they were seen in a physical altercation several minutes after she pushed the woman.
Think about the 'Delta Karen' incident in which the woman began slapping and shouting at the older man on the flight for not wearing his mask while eating. Delta Karen just went straight off the rails, totally unhinged. That lady had known serious mental health issues and her own parents had taken a restraining order out against her. I am guessing this woman has mental health issues too as obviously that is just totally insane to shove anyone much less an older person like that on the street. With her fighting and bullying tendencies, it sounds like she could have Oppositional Defiant Disorder or some other serious personality disorder and it was the 'perfect storm' resulting in this awful and tragic situation.
There is clearer info about what is known about the attack, in this article. Thanks for linking to it.
Yes this is the first I saw of the crossing the street report in an actual article and not just from posts. This changes a lot for me, so much for my theory that she was in a rush and just rudely pushed her out of the way. Now I have no idea what to think.
What I do know is now everyone she knows, or will come to know including future possible employers, will know what she did. Regardless of the prosecution, where I am convinced she will get off lightly, she will wear this for the rest of her life.

Her access to money will cushion her. In a few years she will have rebuilt her life. She might have to spend a little time in prison. If she were poor, she’d be looking at a longer prison term. On the other hand, the publicity might force a judge to hand down a longer sentence than I expect.

This case made be think about Alex Kelly. Before facing trial for two sex crimes, he fled to Europe and was living
a playboy lifestyle with his rich parents funding him. Disgusting.
