I figured out yesterday that you can forward spam texts to SPAM (7726) which is supposed to report numbers to your wireless carrier. It might not be better than blocking the number, but it feels more proactive.

What happens when the text you are forwarding is from your own number?
I get spam calls that say they’re from me! It’s a real thing. I look at my bf and say “Look, I’m getting a call from myself!”
I have not had that happen to me yet. Only the texting.
Another new to me just happened. I got two missed calls from a number I've never seen but it showed the name of someone I talk and text to daily. I was actually with this person when it happened and the phone never actually rang. It just lit up to show 2 missed calls. The number was not even the same area code as the person it showed up as. We were like wth!?

My husband and I just started getting spam texts from an email, not a number. There's no option to block them like the ones that come from phone numbers. We're getting 3-4 a day, just links which we don't click. Every one comes from a different email address. I'd love to know how to block these texts.
