An escaped inmate from Alabama planned to have a "shootout" with officers if he and an alleged accomplice hadn't been caught Monday afternoon, Vanderburgh County Sheriff Dave Wedding said Tuesday.

Does anyone know why there was a delay of 5 days between the carwash owner discovering the truck in his carwash (and guessing that he did not know it was these two's vehicle, just thought it was an abandoned car?) and looking into the surveillance footage? If they weren't so careless they would have been long gone by the time he looked into that footage.
Their apparent lack of care about being caught is really the only reason why they did get caught. Anyone with half an ounce of common sense would have been long gone after abandoning that truck on May 3rd; and when his identity was discovered via the surveillance footage, they would not have been able to locate them in that area.
The owner of the car wash indicated that he only looked at the video over the weekend. He was interviewed by local TV. The link is in an earlier post.

I don't think you can blame the car wash owner for this. Idk who "they" is who are saying that he might have shot her beyond the usual amateur sleuths.

Snazzy, don't feel bad; I inferred the same thing you did from that news piece. The word, "put," rather than "jailed" or "confined" is probably the reason for our initial interpretation.
You just have to wonder how in the heck these 2 idiots decided that washing the car was a higher priority than staying out of sight given the nationwide hunt for them.
Yeah, these people were very stupid. They also stayed in the same motel/area for 6 days, acquired a Cadillac after dumping the truck, and she bought him a bright PINK shirt from Kohls, as if being 6’9” didn’t attract enough attention.
Dumb and dumber would’ve had a better plan than this.
Did they even attempt to get off the grid? She’s dead, he’s going back to jail, so clearly jail just didn’t seem to bother him that much.
Sad and disturbing situation. There are lots of questions about why a woman "like" her would do something like this. But the thing is, you don't always really know what a person is thinking or going through mentally.
