OH, That is too funny. I gave him heck one time when he came up to me and a friend. Me - grandfather was a Bapt. preacher and grew up in church. My friend - his dad was a Bapt. preacher. Yes, I know PK's are bad Well, that cross dude walked up to us and said, "YOUR GOING TO HELL!" We both said, "no, we are not" and said why. Well, to him because we were CRUISING FOREST we were going straight to hell. He did not know many Bible versus when we got down to it and by the time my friend and I were done w/ him we had a HUGE CROWD and an instant following (not that I went out to cruise Forest to witness either). The guy left and not too happy either. That is funny, Jesus did not have a wheel on His cross. LOL!!! LOVE IT!

AHHHH the mural - I think local high school(s) did that as a project to cover up the graffitti (sp?), and it seemed to have worked. Our family used to go down Forest when I was a kid (on our way to Pancho's), and the mural was there, so I think it might have been before the Bicentennial, but I'm not 100% certain about that, so Lakewooder may be right.
The mural was painted by the Art Dept. from WTW to help stop the graffitti. Any one climb the water tower at Valley View and Marsh? It sat on Glad Acres.

I saw that someone mentioned Swenson's ice cream parlor. My family loved that place. We sometimes go to the one in Plano but it's just not the same anymore.

The news people I remember...Harold Taft, Brad Wright, John Criswell, Bill Kelley (didn't he also do the children's program that had Davey & Goliath?), Suzie Humphreys (she was KVIL with Ron Chapman, am I right?).

Remember when Foremost would deliver dairy products to your home? I know I'm dating myself (early 40's), but just thinking about that takes me back to a simpler time. I assume other brands did the same thing (Borden maybe?), but Foremost is the only one I remember.

I remember that, as well as the old geezer of a man on the TV commercials would say in his raspy voice, "Oh thank heaven, for 7-11." I also remember that they had ICEEs instead of Slurpees.

OH YES!!!! "Oh Thank Heaven For 7-11". One just opened up not far from us. Used to only have 7-11 or Stop n Go and no other convience stores w/ various names of the two.

Borden deliverd our milk. I still know of a man out in our area that delivers Borden milk. LOL!!!

For some reason I seem to remember them being open from 7-11, but I don't remember the Icee's (I remember Icee's being available at other convenience stores, just not 7-11). I remember one summer they came in cool plastic cups, with baseball players and their statistics on them.

I also remember 7-11 having the old television vacuum tube tester's. Our tv would go out, and dad would plug tube after tube into it until he found the one that was bad.
