Sounds like the split to the right is the designated right turn lane, and the lane you were in should can go straight unless designated otherwise. So what you did sounds dangerous and is illegal. Sorry. Pay up.

I did indeed miss the feeder 'ramp' that accesses Buckner Blvd. I then proceeded to turn from the right lane, crossing no other lanes of traffic.

I looked at the google maps for this intersection, provided you passed the ramp to buckner and turned right from the right most lane at the stop sign, I think you are in the clear as well.
