>>Lakewood Schools Improve TAKS Scores
Despite big gains, some still below district averages

“I think we did very good,” Allen said. “I feel very good about the teachers and their positive attitude with the kids. We had a lot of parent support that helped with intervention and building a positive environment for the kids that were at-risk.”
Despite improved scores, some schools failed to reach the Dallas ISD average in some subjects.

The district’s average passing rates are 79.6 percent in reading, 66.1 percent in math, 58 percent in science, 87.2 percent in writing, and 84 percent in social studies.

Sanger fell short of the average in science by 1.2 percent. In all other subjects, the school’s averages are higher, most notably in math with 85.4 percent passing.

Long and Woodrow are both below the district average in math and science. Woodrow is also lower in reading.

Lakewood is higher than the district average by at least 10 percentage points in every subject.<<

Read mom's posts about TAKS - when you have every group (5) you have more chances of ruining your rating. Most of the other schools have only have one group.

Despite Long's lower math and science scores, it won state for the third year in a row in math and science.

The advanced students in these schools are all doing well -- can you say Yale and Princeton?

Woodrow Wilson High placed 6th in the Dallas Morning News All-Sports Awards. Its 81 point score tied Frisco Centennial.

The score ranks the Wildcat program above 95 other high schools in North Texas.
