OMG, msev. How do people manage in such cold? My daughter lives there and is working out of state, but she was supposed to be back in Colorado Springs (actually Sedalia) by today. I hope she made it ok if the roads are bad. And my 27-year old grandson lives outside Minneapolis, where the temp was -20 and the wind chill factor made it feel like -50 today.

My outdoor thermometer says 28 degrees now (almost 1:00 AM in Houston). It feels so cold outside but I'm thinking of people in other parts of the country (like msev, my daughter and my grandson) and I feel like a wimp for complaining.

Last edited by TFW46; 01-07-2014 at 12:00 AM.. Reason: Edited to correct temp in Minneapolis from 20 to MINUS 20.

Roads are not as bad as it was yesterday and the saturday since major roads are now clear of snow. Will be better tomorrow since it warms up to mid 50's at least here in COS. How do we manage in the cold? Layer . Today was a clear day and since were about 6000ft above sea level the sun's radiation make the air feel alot warmer than it is.

Thanks for the info, msev. I need to call my daughter tomorrow and make sure that she made it back ok. And she has to leave again soon because her temp job is out of state.

It's not luck Bob, it's called careful planning.

I had someone ask me once if I had a choice would I pick a rich man or a handy man? I choose well!

We are of the same mind, Camp. I have all that stuff, too, but I am not a camper. I am a pseudo prepper, as you know. I'm so glad you and the pups are snug as bugs in a rug.

It's still below freezing here but will warm up this week just in time for some rain, I hope. I have a feeling that before winter is over we just might have a blizzard in the DFW area. I have not been in one since we were stationed in Kansas back in the late 50s-early 60s.

Today I am watching all five movies in The Omen series. Wait, I may have to take a nap, too.

Hello, Friends, it's me, Starr.r. I've been here the last few days, but have not been able to log in, because I forgot my password. I've been coming here using my smartphone, & for some strange unknown reason, it logged me out. But it's been so long since I first registered, I could not remember which address I used to sign up. So I just re-registered, and will use this until I can remember where my password book is. Ha.

I've been worried about all my friends who live up in the Frozen north. Honestly don't know how you guys do it. Here in Tampa, we reached only 46 degrees, & that is too cold for me. I'm glad to read that you guys are doing okay. I can't help but worry about you a bit.
Stay warm and safe, my friends.
