That's really cool! I've never been a huge country music fan, but those are some quality artists and it looks like a great line-up.

Looks like a country music competition going on in Delaware. The Dover one just announced, and the Harrington Festival announced prior to that.

New country music festival coming to Harrington

Not that Harrington looks all that far away, and from my perch in Lewes it is an easy drive, but my first thought is it would have been better for coastal businesses in Lewes/Rehoboth/Dewey if the promoter had been able to secure his first choice in Sussex County.

Or would that not be necessary in mid-August, given that it is still in season?

Mid -August weekends are typically sold out times for Lewes/Rehoboth area hotels.

Alex Pires, developer and president/owner of Highway One - Dewey Beach (Bottle & Cork, Rusty Rudder) etc. and principal of the Harrington Country Music Festival, has been searching for a location for awhile now. Harbeson was the location selected, but neighbors balked at the idea, and plans fell through. Harrington has the infrastructure in place, on the Delaware State Fairgrounds....easy access via Rt. 13, from all points, and no beach traffic to deal with. In my opinion, country music better suits the Harrington location.

I was thinking the same, rdlr....I just think the country music festival in general is more suitable for Harrington. I think it's a better area as well as far as infrastructure is concerned.

I was house-hunting in Delaware in April and attended the BBQ-fest in Harrington. I thought it was a great locale for that; they had country music, food trucks and stands, dancing, cornhole boards (my first time playing that) and I really enjoyed it. Then I went to the casino to play awhile till the crowds/traffic went down.
